That was the most BS part of the article! Cleveland?! Superbowl? That last happen in the sixties dude, 1965.

Panthers have been there twice since 2003.

These media hype jobs are really twisting some impressionable noodles.

The past doesn't really matter.

Objectively speaking, Cleveland is way closer to being a Super Bowl team then we are right now.

He's not wrong about that.

History has yet to record this "closer", odds aren't in their favor although the pundits are... hilariously.

I think they are also closer than what's left of the Falcons and also the Saints.

It wasn't like KC, Buffalo, or the 2021 Rams were seeking his services.

After Browns acquired Watson there was negativity from a woman business owner in Cleveland.

They have been on spin control since the moment the trade happened.  It's been a constant stream on the nfl network for days.

If it's football strictly....I'm not sure I'm buying what he's selling.  If it's a better roster than the other choices left...that may be true, or may not...the Saints do have talent on their squad.

What I'm getting at is....in the AFC you have Allen, Herbert, Mahomes, Russell, Jackson, Burrow, and to a lesser extent Carr, Ryan, Tannehill, etc...

That is a brutal spate of QB's to go trophy hunting against...in the NFC...what?  An OLD Brady and an almost OLD Rodgers.

If I wanted to win big, I don't think that I'd be in the AFC...and right now you have two legendary teams who are waiting in the background as well in the Pats and Steelers.

Yes, he literally called the panthers to ask for a similar deal and they said no.

This article states it was written from Watson's perspective. I wonder why Breer never mentioned they called the Panthers at the last minute looking for a similar deal?

It wasn't last minute.

Reports said he called about that before he eliminated us. We said no and were told we were out later that same day.

Whatever the exact timeline, it just seems odd that Breer didn't even feel the need to mention it.

Yeah like others said, this was a money decision.  With that in thought, he was smart and probably made the right decision.   The fact that they saved him from losing money for a suspension may be the next big news story and I wonder what the league office thinks of this kind of structure.

I thought it would be fun to have Watson here but realistically we're not often at the top of destination lists but I hope this all works out in the end.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
