David Tepper Still Won’t Talk

It doesn't matter what he would say, we all know words are meaningless when responding to reporter's BS questions.  It's that he would be stepping up to the mic and showing some accountability and standing behind a plan to improve the direction of the franchise.  We're coming off two miserable seasons of horseshit football, and it would make him look more like a leader than a coward.  It's the optics on this that don't sit well with me, rather than what he would actually say.  No one would expect him to guarantee playoffs of some stupid poo like that.  Just man up and put your voice out there.

Hey, I won't disagree there. But the fact of the matter is, as an owner he can pay people to handle the PR. Whether that is the best way to approach, and most effective way could and should be debated. But I guess I'm just stating that the expectation, and the hope that happens doesn't always have to be met just because we want it to. Especially when we already know the answer to the question we want to ask.

Matt Rhule is here because tepper wants him here. As a fan of the franchise I have to accept the mediocrity and the bs. Bc frankly tepper doesn't even know who TF I am.

That's just my perspective though, everyone doesn't have to agree.

There's no PR in the world that can make three straight 5-12 finishes palatable to fans.

And fans that don't like what they see don't buy tickets.

Do we really need more platitudes about how he wants to win and is obviously unsatisfied with the results last season?

Let’s all pound our fists and demand we get a 20 minute “owner-speak” press conference!

If you think of it that way, do we need to hear from coaches, or GMs, or even players?

As far as the process, no, we don't. It has little to no effect on what happens behind the scenes.

But given that sports is about the fans, it helps those fans understand what's happened, what will happen next, etc. Plus it helps us know whether the person talking is someone we can have confidence in or just a numbskull that's full of sh-t.

And yes, that's true of the owner as well.

There’s nothing he could say that would make me feel better about 3 consecutive losing seasons. It’s gonna be a bunch of “we have a plan” and “it’s a 5 year process” talk that largely means nothing. The time for talk is over, show me results. Our record this year will speak louder than anything he can say. Our GM and Head Coach have spoken, what more can he add?

An acceptance of accountability...

But he already did that.... He has already come out and said he was in over his head when he got the team and he was learning how to be an owner. His initial approach was incorrect and he made changes since then. The biggest being firing Hurney after he admitted it. Its been 1 season since then, I mean the results were not going to be over night but you can definitely tell the approach is better this off season.

"Fans who have been here through both the thick and the thin as Panthers fans, just wanted to say that I am sorry for the way the first 3 years of my ownership have translated to the field.  You guys deserve more, and I'm prepared to right this ship, starting right now.  We are bringing in "X" person to oversee the football operations and over the coming months you will see less and less of me, and more and more of "X".  I have given him the authority to guide this football team as he see's fit moving forward.

Thank you for being patient, it will be rewarded"

You are correct, not much he can say...but he could actually DO something other than fug up everything he touches.

He fired Hurney only to hand the reins over to a college coach with no NFL experience.

That doesn't show improvement.

The Big Cat didn’t say a word for 9 years…

…was there a similar level fretting and gnashing of teeth during that time?

Heck Mike Jordan’s Bobcats have posted 5 consecutive losing seasons and he hasn’t said boo (and I understand why🤦‍♂️), don’t ever hear any whining about that🧐

Seems to be a Tepper thing…🧐

Yes, there actually was.

Plenty of people thought Richardson should speak, though it came to be understood that he never would.

As far as the Hornets, I'm not a basketball fan but there are some on the board who could probably answer.
