The Charlotte media market is #22 in the U.S. There's a reason why the team is called labeled "Carolina" and not "Charlotte" and why the the pushes the whole two states thing so hard. The Charlotte market isn't big enough to carry a team. You need the broader region.

Charlotte is big enough now but it's a transient city so there isn't majority support like Pittsburg or Dallas. Same goes for LA and LV. They don't have a huge base of fans either. Either way I'm pretty sure we are Carolina just to represent both states like JR wanted. Fan base wouldn't be any different if the name changed because most people in lower SC support the Falcons and in upper NC support the football team formally known as the Redskins.

The NFL, Jerry Jones, and The Texan will not allow another NFL to exist in Texas.

Nope. It's absolutely going to happen. There's too much money in Austin/SA now. Freaking Elon Musk might own the team.

Hey guys, I have $10,000 in the bank and I have a car repair of $740, can you guys pay it for me so I can keep all of my money?

David Tepper.

It's a good investment because with my repaired car I'll be able to contribute to the economy and that will end up making things better for everyone so you see, it's really in everyone's best interest to give me this money that I totally don't need so that I can further increase my wealth... uh, I mean "contribute to the economy".

I was simply responding to the statement that Charlotte is a top 10 media market.

It is by NFL standards. The nfl determines the primary and secondary market (for blackout zones) by drawing a 75mile radius around the stadium.

That ‘standard’ puts the panthers at #6. Just ahead of the cowgirls.

Interestingly enough, the nfl widens that 75 mile zone for the panthers to include the triangle, etc. Adding Raleigh Durham puts the panthers at #2 I think.

Indianapolis is 25th

Pittsburgh is 26th

Baltimore is 28th

Kansas city is 34th

Cincinnati is 36th

Vegas is 40th.

New Orleans is 50th.

Buffalo is 53rd.

Charlotte by itself could claim to be larger than their number if they wanted a broader reach. The issue that Nielsen has is if Charlotte were to include additional counties and cities it would be cannibalizing other smaller media markets. This works for large cities such as New York, LA, Chicago, and Houston where they can actually encompass other media markets as their own with their broadcasts.

If the Raleigh/Durham area had their own team, then it would reduce the size of the Panthers NFL market. This is somewhat similar to the Pennsylvania NFL media market where they have both the Steelers and the Eagles.

He is really starting to piss me off. He has brought the team down from mediocrity to laughing stock in only a few years.

One of the good things about him was he was going to be the richest owner, but he just wants to keep all that $ and make more off the Panthers while making terrible decisions. He is just a piece of poo.

It's what billionaires do. This is our new version of "capitalism". In reality, it's just socialism for the very wealthy.

You and me both. I would've told him "15% of Rock Hill's population falls below the defined poverty line and you, a billionaire more than a dozen times over wants hundreds of millions in handouts? You sir can go fug yourself."

To put this in perspective, David Tepper a multi-billionaire is essentially asking Rock Hill for $21k per impoverished resident. This poo should be fuging criminal but it's business as usual for the elite.

Rockhill never should have made that deal. They can’t afford it and shouldn’t try.

    • Miller being less raw and more pro ready makes sense of why they picked him. With us having a capable starter in Walker the lower floor higher ceiling player makes sense for us as well. I agree with that.
    • I'm from Michigan and have had this discussion with my Lions friends, and they all agree with me, they were never going to take Freeling over Miller.  As, yes, you are correct, they could have left Sewell at RT and taken Freeling, but they are in a SB contention window right now. An OL with Freeling at LT and Sewell at RT is not as strong as Sewell at LT and Miller at RT would be for this upcoming season and likely at least next year as well. 5 years it could be looked back upon as a long term "mistake" to take Miller over Freeling, but for a franchise like the Lions, you can't worry about the long term when you have current SB aspirations.  It's all about maximizing their current SB window over the next 1-3 years. And it's not about style, it's about day 1 readiness, and a lot of "experts" aren't even sure if Freeling is ready to play Week 1 yet at the position he's used to, let alone switching to a side he hasn't played before, but a career starting RT is going to be more than ready to fill that role for them Week 1. I'm 100% convinced that if our draft positioning was swapped, we'd have still taken Freeling, they'd have still taken Miller, and both teams would have got the OT that they preferred due to what each team needs right now and what their current realistic aspirations are for the 2026 season. We're in a position where we can let our drafted OT sit and learn for a bit, they needed a week 1 starter, for me that's where this discussion becomes very easy to understand why each team took the player they did.
