Football just doesn't seem like something Musk would have much if any interest in. He's no saint, but his eyes are on much bigger and more influential matters than trivial football.

Yeah, and I remain convinced that 1) the NFL has no desire to go against Jerry Jones and add another Texas team, and 2) Tepper will move this team in a heartbeat if he doesn't get his stadium. And, I might add, he will want another in 10-12 years.

The sooner you realize David Tepper is Football George Shinn, the better. Not better in the sense we're more likely to lose the team than keep it, but better in the sense that you can prepare to have a new favorite team because the NFL has no interest in fighting to keep a franchise in Charlotte (or, because there are already 32 teams and 8 4-team divisions, expand to Charlotte).

It's completely ambivalent to the concept.

Yall are so against Tepper its preventing you from looking at issues objectively. The Rock Hill site is not on Tepper, he was paying the site out his own pocket, all the county had to do was upgrade the infrastructure and they failed to do that. Yes, Tepper should have fired Rhule but he played this correctly.

If they think they can make more money and get bigger influence they won't let Jerry Jones stand in their way. Hell, he's 79 years old anyway. He's unlikely to be around to be in their way for much longer either way.

Choosing the wrong city to bilk out of money and throw some of your own cash toward, only to back out, is not "playing it correctly." If he didn't want this secondary pet project, the $175 million spent on this eyesore in Rock Hill could've gone toward the new stadium he wants.

Oh, but the NFL is the king of good 'ole boy business. The Mara family can attest to that. Regardless -- unless the City of Charlotte pays up, we'll get to see.

Rockhill never should have made that deal. They can’t afford it and shouldn’t try.

Exactly. All this hate i see here directed toward Tepper is just wrong. He has lived up to his end of this bargain and Rock Hill has not. Let's try placing the blame where it belongs.

The Carolina Panthers have put a pause on construction of their headquarters in Rock Hill, South Carolina, saying the city hasn't met its financial obligations. City officials say they have not issued bonds yet to meet their financial obligation.

What did officials there say exactly are their reasons for pausing construction? And what will it take to restart it?

Well, they're saying what you said at the start of this segment, which is that the city has not issued the bonds, has not made good on its promises to help pay for the streets and other infrastructure around this project. And in essence, they're saying that this has gone on for long enough and they're going to stop — "pause" is the word they used — they're going to stop building until they get this resolved.

And on the flip side,, you've had the city at first saying, "Well, we haven't missed any payments. We've done what we're supposed to do." And then later saying, "Well, yeah, we did not issue these bonds." So, there's still a little bit of a question as to exactly what's driving the lack of investment or making good on the commitment that was struck with the Panthers originally.

So, the idea was that Rock Hill would contribute roughly $225 million worth of road improvements, sewer, water — all the things that need to happen to build a big project on a piece of land that has been unoccupied; it has not been commercially used.

And those things have not happened yet. The bonds would have paid for those projects, and so the Panthers kept building. They are 20 months into a 36-month construction schedule.

They say they've spent about $170 million so far working on their headquarters. In essence, they're pulling the plug and saying, "We have to fix this somehow, some way." And a lot of people that are watching this — both near and far — are saying, "Well, we might have a little bit of bluffing or a little bit of a game of chicken. We'll see how this turns out." But so far, that's where it stands.

Im sure you knew it was the wrong choice when he choose Rock Hill, he is currently playing the hand he was dealt by Rock Hill and he upheld his end of the contract, besides going back in time there is nothing else he can do.

He has only lived up to his end of the bargain because it's in his best interests. He's proven in the past that he'll fug people over in a heartbeat as soon as he thinks going through with a deal isn't in his best interests. Don't try to make this piece of poo out to be some type of honorable person. He's not.

Last line in the article below is also true.  Again, Tepper has no connection here, no history here and doesn’t live in the area.   In the end, he is going to flex on Charlotte for a new stadium or threaten to leave.

Maybe that’s why Tepper seems to be untroubled by the current situation. His deeper message could be far more pointed.

Give me what I want, or I eventually will be gone.

The past has nothing to do with this particular deal. The fact is Tepper has lived up to his end of the bargain and Rock Hill has not.

You seem to be letting your personal dislike for Tepper cloud your view of an agreed on business deal that was kept on his end of the bargain..
