Good way of looking at it.  I am happy we have Fitterer and not Gettlemen this year.  They are probably exact opposites.  If Fitterer thinks he can get his QB by trading back, that is what we are going to do.  If we HAVE to pick at #6, I expect a T or edge rusher.

Not that related, but did you know that Kenny Pickett is 5 months OLDER than Green Bay's Jordan Love? I want Matt Corral or Sam Howell in a trade back.  While they could become starters, we don't have a decent backup either.

Joe Burrow the two year starter from two different programs is not comparable to Pickett a four year starter in his 5th year of college in the same program.

He was also playing in an offensive system last seen when football was played in leather helmets. That's the huge factor the folks reaching to compare a Pickett to him consistently miss.

I’m not comparing their skill set.  I just think it’s short sighted to assume he won’t have a good NFL career simply because he took a big leap this past year.  Pretty sure the hope is that all athletes continue to improve as time goes on.  Some do it faster than others.

His good measurables that others are hanging their hats on made me even more down on him. They don't show up on the field. He basically plays like a more mobile Mac Jones. Throws outside the numbers in the NFL are going to be off the table. He can't get the ball out there against NFL DBs without getting them jumped for a pick six.

The problem you've got there is you're talking about borderline HoF talents at the most important position in sport.

It's not normal to play that long.

Well yeah when you draft someone high you hope they are that talented. However look at Ryan Fitzpatrick and the McCown brothers. It’s just not as rare as it once was.

Just thinking the same thing this morning. It is imminently harder to find and snag a Jake Delhomme than it is to find a Cam Newton type. Both are unicorns in their own way, but the Newtons are so incredibly obvious that no one could miss on picking them.

Delhommes, well, they're out there, sitting on someone's bench, doing great in preseason and just waiting for their chance. I keep thinking there's got to be one somewhere...

You guys are good for a laugh. Newton wasn't even the consensus top QB in his draft let alone the consensus top pick. If he came out this year there would still be the same whiners saying we shouldn't risk it let's go OL or DL.

Minshew is probably the best bet there. Honestly, if the draft doesn't fall right for us I'd rather kick Philly a mid-rounder next year for Minshew vs. trading real assets for Jimmy G or Baker Mayfield and their significantly larger cap hits.

Honestly, we should have just kept Taylor Heinicke and skipped the whole Teddy and Sammy show and built the o-line. We wouldn't have been any worse off.
