It's always either "there's no QB worth drafting" or "all the QBs will be gone before we pick". According to the Huddle it's never the right time to draft a QB.

I’m firmly in the draft a high upside QB and swing for the fences camp. Willis all day. Even if it’s somehow Willis, Icky and Neal available when we’re picking.

Prior post regarding Joe Thomas and the browns was spot fuging on.

At some point you have to start swinging. What's the bigger opportunity cost, drafting a bust of a QB with good prospects at other positions available or drafting a good prospect at another position while passing on a legit QB?

If you need a QB then QB is always your #1 need and your #2 need almost becomes irrelevant. If we were smarter with how we targeted vet stop gaps we wouldn't be so desperate.

100% agree. Swing till you hit, no other position carries the same weight.

I wanted fields last year.    I am pretty sure 100% of the huddle would have been okay with that pick the day after all things considered

Fields should have been the pick even with Darnold and the 5th year option. If Darnold actually had worked out we could trade Fields above any of these current prospects easily for an extra 1st, or kept him on the cheap ready to go for next year. Obviously we should have kept Teddy and taken Fields but I still wanted him after the Darnold trade.

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
