Would you rather have Jimmy G - Baker - Darnold - or Cam - starting week 1

Sam. Losing season either way, but higher pick. Not wasting more money either. Could’ve rolled 10m from last year instead of stupidly signing limp cam 3/4 into a pathetic season to appease fanboys and help Teps bottom line. How’s that helping now? Stop showing Tep that BS will work.

Quit making dumbass decisions and take the inevitable rebuilding lumps they’ve failed to do for three years which ended in results anyone except the Panther FO experts could’ve predicted.

Here's the main problem... he kinda sucks. We're sitting here asking ourselves if he can get back to that same baseline of suck. Yikes. I'd seriously rather just stick with Darnold. Throwing good money after bad I not the answer.

9ers are 31-14 with JimmyG.
Shanahan is 8-28 without JimmyG.

They went to the Super Bowl and 2 NFC Championship games in the last 3 years.

Jimmy had a higher passer rating than Mahommes last year.

He's a better QB than you are a moderator, or Panthers fan.

It's hard to say. Far too many variables.

I do know you can and most times you add to the damage the injury/damage playing hurt, which JimmyG did. Need a few MRIs and elite doctors to give opinions. Plus everyone heals differently, is he more wolverine or glass?

JiimyG from what I know spends lots of time hurt/injured, hes always on the injury report with something. He also had a bad thumb this pass year.

I love Cam, but I'd prefer he retire.

When Cam starts playing like garbage behind a legitimate offensive line with formidable weapons and a full offseason, pre-season I'll come to this conclusion.

Just in '20 Cam looked as good as he ever has running the ball. Passing wise, not good, but he had no TE to speak of (Cam loves his TE's) and two UDFA's out wide .. no wonder why his passing stats were poor

Last season the weapons were pretty good, but the line was terrible .. the line was so poor vs. Miami it nearly broke PFF .. and Cam did have an MVP type performance vs. Washington but we still lost

We can love Cam Newton and not be delusional. We lost to Tyler Heinicke who looked like an elite quarterback. Sam Darnold is so terrible he lost to Daniel Jones.

yes when cam has a full off-season, elite weapons, excellent oline, superior coaching, iron curtain defense, elite TEs, and refs who finally give him preferable calls, the planets align and he will finally redeem himself to elite status…we get it, we’ve heard it, it just isn’t reality in the NFL

This is a quote from Rhule in January - "..A lot of things have to align for a quarterback to play well.."

https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2022/01/16/panthers-hc-matt-rhule-doesnt-commit-sam-darnold-2022/

What do you think Gardner Minshew, Baker, Jimmy G, or a QB in this draft would need to succeed .. everything you listed is the answer because the reality of the situation is winning QB's play on damn good rosters and damn good offenses outside of themselves.

EDIT: Show me high level QB play and I'll show you a lot of things aligning .. high level skill position play, high level protection. Everything has to be on point for a QB to have great numbers.

I mean, we are gonna lose anyway so seeing them strike out on a third straight QB would be funny in a morbid sort of way.

Jimmy sucks as an NFL QB. That's why they traded the farm to draft a non-D1 QB prospect.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
