Darnold is better than any QB in this class. Darnold has been in some trash situations.

Unfortunately for Sam it isn't only the situations that were trash it was his overall performance. League worst.

QBs have been in "trash situations" since time immemorial. True franchise QBs will flash even in bad situations, and they will flash consistently.

I am not following that logic. McAdoo has said that very thing, plus Fitterer has informed everyone that he has told Darnold that we're adding to the room.

Like Jon Snow has said, everyone knows our QB situation is sh¡t and that Darnold was pretty much sh¡t last season. This is not a secret. The only thing that people don't know is how we're actually attacking tomorrow night, and rightfully so. You're trying to manufacture intrigue in the wrong place, and ascribe strategy to something where in reality there is none.

Mcadoo said he is the starter before back tracking and catching himself..

Read between the mistake.. They are preparing to start Darnold..

Fitt also said many times "we have to be fair to Sam and put better pieces around Sam and put Sam in a better situation " Did you miss him saying that 20x??

Adding another QB doesn't mean that player is going to be able to beat out Sam.. They could draft a QB in the 2nd 3rd or 4th round.. That guy isn't beat Sam for the job right away..

Sam has hit his ceiling. He is what he is. The rookie would be on the field raising their own ceiling and if that happens with the right guy by end of season Sam will be in the dust.

Nobody cares if it's right away or not. Sam might start the season as QB1--might--but he won't end the season as QB1. We're going to acquire a QB whether during the draft or afterwards, but we're going to do it. You can believe all that Darnold absurdity if you want.

I don't think it was racially motivated. I think they were very butthurt that Teddy spoke honestly about how they didn't prepare like he was used to for critical game situations.

In fairness, most of the board(me included) jumped all over Teddy for that.

In hindsight, he was 100% accurate. Look no further than the 2021 offseason TC reports where they talked about the emphasis on game situations in practice.

Teddy's sin was he criticized a coach and they way he ran the team.

If you think race is a qualifier that a coach or owner would have for his qb you are delusional.  It only matters if they can play the game and win.

Race only matters to the fans that think it does.

So again if you know this..

How does it benefit team to poo or act drab about a player that has to be on the field for you??

Your whole thing doesn't make sense when you believe what you just said..

The Jets are a poverty franchise that has been run poorly for how many decades now? Even they weren't talking up Sam Darnold publicly like we are. They said enough of this poo and told him to kick rocks. We need to do the same. Guaranteed money or not.

I just think after these past few years there’s zero confidence in Tepper. I agree with you op…I think it’s lip service but people hate him to the point where even if they know he’s not being honest they’re done giving him the benefit of the doubt and I can’t blame them.

A rookie needs time to learn the verbiage, the speed of the game, most have never ran a nfl offense or even taking snaps from under center.. Let alone reading defenses learning the playbook and all the mental stuff.

All this takes time for the best QB prospect..

And there isn't a prospect like Cam, Lawrence, Andrew Luck or Peyton manning in this draft.. So the learning curve is even bigger for lesser prospects.. Which this draft is full of..

While Sam is dumb and makes dumb decisions

No QB in this draft is physicality going to outmatched him.. Speed, Arm ability, athleticism..

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
