"Corral doesn't have the physical advantages that (Pitt QB Kenny) Pickett or (Liberty QB Malik) Willis have but he's a better pure quarterback than either of them." -- Director of scouting for AFC team

The problem is that all the elite QB’s in the NFL are elite athletes (outside of Brady who is in a league of his own).

Mahomes… athlete…, Allen… athlete…, Herbert… athlete…, Burrow… athlete…

Corral is a pure QB who is a decent athlete from a very collegesque system that requires minimal reading of a defense and he has an average arm.

Switch to the NFL…

Specifically looking at RPO pulls (where the QB keeps)

Dolphins - Tagovailoa - average athlete and average arm strength

Kansas City - Mahomes - elite athlete and elite arm strength

Steelers - Roethlisberger - below average athlete and average arm strength (for last year)

Chargers - Herbert - elite athlete and elite arm strength

Bills - Allen - elite athlete and elite arm strength

The guys really excelling in the offense that Corral is comfortable in are elite athletes and have elite arm strength.

Now personally I think Corral will be better than Tua because we have a running game to take pressure off of Corral as where the Dolphins do not. But it’s concerning that all of the QB’s that excel in the RPO at the NFL level don’t exactly look like Corral.

I wouldn't call Joe burrow an elite athlete, and he whooped Mahomes ass twice last year.

All of Burrow’s scouting reports list him as very athletic and he definitely showed his ability to move around at LSU. If anything his arm strength was a question coming out but he’s put those concerns to bed.

Additionally, Burrow isn’t a system QB so it’s not really the same comparison. I only listed Burrow to show that all the top QB’s are elite in their own right at something whether it’s their athleticism or their arm talent.

The real comparisons are the comparisons with the other NFL QB’s who run RPO plays the most… all the successful ones (Mahomes, Allen, and Herbert) are elite athletes and have elite arm talent… and the one who runs it the most (Tagovailoa) is an average athlete (maybe slightly above) with average arm strength.

I mean, Corral is listed a great athlete with a very good arm and elite release almost everywhere... I'm definitely not saying that Corral is Burrow, but come on, you are underselling his physical traits.

Yeah you can tell who has never watched Corral play. He is an excellent athlete.

I think Corral is a solid athlete. Not Mahomes or Allen, slightly behind Herbert but better than Tua. The issue is he isn’t durable (like Tua).

And Corral has great ARM TALENT… as in he can make most of the NFL throws and has good touch as a well as an elite release… he does not have ELITE ARM STRENGTH. I watched the Willis and Corral game live in person and I could verify with my own eyes that he had a decent amount of under throws.

I’ve watched him live in person but nice try.

Being an excellent athlete at the college level doesn’t make you an elite athlete at the NFL level. Especially when you don’t have the same physical gifts as the other QB’s that excel at RPO plays in the NFL.

Then you factor in Corral’s durability and that negates a lot of his athleticism. If you are athletic but you can’t take a hit then it doesn’t really do you a whole lot of good being athletic… at that point you might as well be Carson Strong.

Willis is by far the better athlete and even he will struggle transitioning to the NFL game as far as athleticism goes because it’s that much quicker.

Corral is mobile but calling him an elite athlete with his size and durability is a disservice to him. If you expect him to do some of the stuff that Cam did for us and that Mahomes, Allen, and Herbert do for their teams then you’ll be waiting a long time.

Rhule, attempting to set expectations that Corral is unlikely to unseat Darnold as the starter: "This is the only position in professional sports where the best players are over the age of 35"

He only mentions Rogers and Brady.

I'm not sure how old Stafford or Russ is, but he doesn't mention Mahomes, Herbert, Burrow, Allen, Lamar, Kyler, Dak...

Just another reason Matt Rhule should be fired. Is this the logic he surrounds himself with in hires, or is he just gaslighting everyone?

The window for a QB to produce playoff/SB success is 2 to 5 years. 7+ years is the outlier/exception.

Brady won a SB in his 2nd year. Wilson won his SB in his 2nd year. Mahomes won his SB in his 3rd year. Rodgers won his SB in his 5th year. Flacco 5. Foles 6. Eli 4. Roethlisberger 2. Peyton 9. Aikman 4. Rypien 4. Montana 3. Simms 8. McMahon 4. Theismann 10.

Then you have QBs not drafted by their team and SB losing QBs. Favre 5, Warner(STL) 2, Delhomme 1, Stafford 1, Burrow 2, Newton 5, Kaepernick 2, Brady(TAM) 1, Warner(ARI) 4, Garoppolo 3, Goff 3, Ryan 9, McNabb 6, Grossman 4, Peyton(DEN) 2, Johnson 2, Gannon 4, Hasselbeck 5, Collins 2, Dilfer 1, McNair 5, Chandler 2, Bledsoe 4, O'Donnell 5, Humphries 3, Kelly 5, Elway 4, Williams 2, Woodley 3, Marino 2, Esiason 5.

Draft a QB and give them 4 seasons. Sign a FA QB and give them 2 seasons. If you like a QB you draft and they show zero success in 4 seasons, part ways, take a shot at another QB for a few seasons, then go back and get the QB you drafted and give them 2 seasons to produce for a second chance (Fran Tarkenton/Nick Foles). Not difficult. History has proven this formula with these 3 QB scenarios.

Rhule doesn't have a clue or a plan with a foundation under it.

It's a third round pick...

Yeah but first three rounds for a QB are "we believe you could be the guy". Obviously the intensity of that sentence lessens with each round and the financial ties lessen, but you don't trade up into the 3rd for a "let's see" guy at QB. Just my opinion.

Value wise? Love the pick. In terms of the team and the future? Idk about it.

I didn't read it that way, I think he is setting expectations that Corral is unlikely to start day 1, and Rodgers and Brady are the long term examples of greatness, so it's what came to his mind. There is so much negativity against Rhule that everyone is looking for something to criticize even when it's not there.

    • For the team, zero.  For football in general to come back. I'm ready as soon as the season ends.
    • I'm still trying. Had a few interested buyers but they always back out and that's at the $250 transaction cost. Looks like I will just let them go if no one wants them. It was sad but by now it's freaking pathetic how much they cost vs how much no one wants them.

Below we have listed some of the key ingredients in GDR Labs CONOCB2 and the extent of their clinical backing: CBD extract CBD binds to cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, which regulate pain signaling and immune function. By inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increasing the production of anti-inflammatory compounds like anandamide, CBD reduces inflammation and alleviates pain. A study investigated the effects of CBD extract on pain, inflammation, focus, energy levels, and joint health in 120 participants. Participants were randomly assigned to receive either 50 mg of CBD extract or a placebo daily for 8 weeks. Don’t miss out on this limited-time opportunity to get GDR Labs CONOCB2! CBD extract significantly reduced pain (32%, p<0.001) and inflammation (CRP: -28%, p<0.01) compared to placebo. Focus improved by 18% (p<0.05) and energy levels increased by 23% (p<0.01) in the CBD group. WOMAC scores decreased by 27% (p<0.001), indicating improved joint health. Piperine Piperine’s antinociceptive effects are attributed to its interaction with transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channels, which are involved in pain sensation. By desensitizing these channels, piperine reduces the perception of pain and promotes analgesia. In a meta-analysis that aimed to evaluate the efficacy of piperine supplementation in reducing pain and inflammation based on available randomized controlled trials (RCTs). A systematic literature search was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. RCTs that investigated the effects of piperine supplementation on pain and inflammation were included. Data were extracted and analyzed using a random-effects model. Five randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 450 participants were analyzed. Piperine supplementation showed a significant reduction in pain scores (standardized mean difference [SMD]: -0.78, 95% CI: -1.12 to -0.44, p<0.001) and improvement in joint function (SMD: 0.62, 95% CI: 0.35 to 0.89, p<0.001). Tabernaemontana divaricata Tabernaemontana divaricata, a medicinal plant, is renowned for its potential analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties, attributed to its diverse array of bioactive alkaloids. Among these alkaloids are apparicine, conophylline, coronardine, and ibogamine, each contributing to its therapeutic effects. Apparicine targets pain and inflammation by modulating transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channels, thereby reducing nociceptive signaling and providing analgesic relief. Conophylline inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) by suppressing nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) signaling, a central pathway in the inflammatory response. Coronardine and ibogamine have shown promise in modulating opioid receptors, crucial for pain perception and regulation. By interacting with these receptors, these alkaloids may contribute to the analgesic effects of T. divaricata, offering a natural alternative for pain management and inflammation control.
