Matt Corral is here because of Ben McAdoo

I like it judging off the ranking McAdoo had on previous QB classes and how they panned out accordingly.

But, as I pointed out in my thread, I'm concerned, yet interested in seeing how they coach him up on the aspects of the deep passing game to complement all of the underneath stuff.

Well Ben is known for being a very good evaluator of rookie QBs so I’ll go with his opinion. Seems like Fitty and Rhule feel the same. McAdoo may look like a schlub but he’s actually a very good OC. He landed a head coaching gig out of it.

Reports are they were split in house.  So you can’t lump every together as feeling the same way.    We just know where the OC stood.  He was on the side of drafting the kid.

You can see from Corral video he fits Mcadoo's west coast offensive profile.. Better than any QB in this draft (with howell right behind that)..

We didn't start hearing about Corral until Mcadoo got comfortable in that building..

And Reading between the lines a little..

Pickett was a Tepper, Rhule guy..

The Scouts loved Wills upside..

Mcadoo was pushing Corral..

Thank goodness Mcadoo won and they didn't use or waste picks trying to get Pickett ..

Lol. Some of y’all have a very conspiratorial way of looking at absolutely everything

Yeah, definitely conspiracy-ish. I just hate Rhule so much.

Probably nothing more than someone with some level of expertise being listened to versus a charlatan.

    • Brandt's comment about Wharton was from his KC perspective when Wharton was a UDFA rookie.   "it goes back to the anecdote that Brandt Tillis had when he was in Kansas City. And it would be so easy to just cut Turk Wharton in 2020 when he was an undrafted rookie from a division two college in Missouri. It would been so easy to cut him because then he would have cleared waivers easily. No one knew this guy. They didn't have any joint practices, didn't have a preseason. Would have been so easy to cut him and bring him back on the practice squad and let him continue to build from there. And Brandt essentially said, "No, he's got to make the 53man roster if we're going to have any sort sense of credibility with this team."
    • Plenty of us were scratching our heads about that signing at the time. Especially with our 3-4 defense. Wharton is kind of a one trick pony situational five tech DT. He doesn't have the beef to hold up against the run and he doesn't have the juice to shift outside. He's basically a situational pass rusher DT. If we paid him $40M+ and he can't start for a historically inept defense then holy poo...
    • Agreed.  300 and 2 or 3 total in Jacksonville in a winning effort would sure be a nice start.
