Panthers sign pass rushing DE to replace Haason Reddick

Meanwhile Tampa picks up Hicks. I’ll never understand this front office sometimes. Ok, ya lost out on Watson, you’ve got this cap sitting around and Hicks took a 1 year deal, why not offer him a bit more money? Cool to know we’re content with sitting on money.

Disappointing.

They paid him 10 million. We need depth, I believe the hope is  that Gross-Matos gets his shot to prove he can be a starter for us. We need a vet depth piece that’s solid against the run

You are aware that Hicks may simply not want to come to Carolina, right?

Hicks is a vet piece that’s elite against the run. If we’re sitting on 25 million, we should be open to spending to improve weaknesses. Like run defense.

Plenty aware, but you’re gonna tell me we couldn’t sweeten the pot a LITTLE more than they did? We’re gonna have fun on the inside with him and Vita.

Super amped we were able to secure the Drew Jordan though..

The players have to want to play here too my guy. It’s not just QBs telling us thanks but no thanks.

Sometimes it isn't always about the money. Some of these guys will take a little less to play on a winning team that has a shot at a ring. The Panthers best shot at a Super Bowl ring for the next few years is probably going to be getting a replica on eBay.

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
