Yeah, you might not wanna back the Brinks truck up for a guy you think you have to force to study. If Murray found it "disrespectful" he should've forced the language out of the contract. Might be a decent chance his agent didn't bother to tell him about that fine print.

I find paying someone over $46M a year disrespectful.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Bucs "fear" C Ryan Jensen suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Jensen hurt his knee during a training camp session, and Tampa coaches were immediately concerned it would be a long-term injury. Losing the leader of Tom Brady's offensive line is a nightmarish way to kick off training camp, as the win-now Bucs have done a great job protecting the 44-year-old Brady during his two seasons in Tampa. The Bucs are reportedly interested in veteran C J.C. Tretter, a longtime standout for the Browns.

Murray's contract provision required he do his homework for 4 hours a week.

How the hell hard is it to watch film for 4 hours a week? Especially when you're getting paid that kind of money.

I mean sh-t, Luke probably watched a couple hours a day.

Chase Claypool left practice with an apparent right arm injury.

Claypool was spotted holding his arm in pain before walking off with a trainer. Coming off a down year, Claypool was poised for a bounceback with quarterback play that fits his skill-set better. Any missed time in training camp could hamper his ability to get on the same page as Mitchell Trubisky, the likely Week 1 starter. George Pickens, the team's second-round receiver from Georgia, would immediately jump into a larger role if Claypool is sidelined for an extended period of time. Pickens is firmly on the radar as a late-round dart throw.

The Jags cut rookie kicker Andrew Mevis… after he drilled a bystander with an errant kick today.

Apparently Mevis missed three field goal attempts by a wide margin and one of them hit former Dallas Cowboys head coach, Dave Campo, in the shoulder. Apparently Campo now works for a local sports talk radio show in the Jax area.

The fate of the Jags kicking game now rests in the hands of former Panthers, Ryan Santoso and Elliott Fry.

Yikes! 😬

That sounds like something out of a bad movie.

I really hope that Zane is our next franchise kicker so we don't have to worry about that for a while. These last few years of QBs are frustrating but so has the kicker issue.

Regarding Steelers qb competition. They brought in Trubisky and took a first round QB and are still saying things like this about Rudolph.

Also Pickett is clearly behind both in snaps.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/07/30/mason-rudolph-has-a-great-shot-at-winning-steelers-qb-job-oc-matt-canada-says/

“Mason’s getting the second reps right now, almost equal to, maybe slightly less than Mitch. He’s being given a very fair shot. To this point in camp, it might have been exactly equal. Mason has made a lot of plays at times, he’s played very well at times for us. He’s got a great shot at it. He’s being treated that way. His history with our plays, with our system, is a positive for him,” Canada said.

Our approach is not that different than the can do no wrong Steelers

The Steelers aren't employing the worst starting quarterback of the last several years and giving him reps ahead of their rookie. So not same.

Also Pickett is already struggling against the 3s, pretty much how I assumed he would look. So uncomfortable in the pocket with no contact allowed

Yeah not surprised that's a tough test for any rookie QB. They've had enough success though if he's a bust that's just the universe evening things out. Side note notice how close to the action the person is filming this. Must be nice.

There's a 57 year old man in a Chicago Sports bar that still smells like cigarettes from 1996 pounding a beer at 10am that would argue Trubisky caused the down fall of the Bulls somehow lol

LOLOL. He looks exactly as predicted by a lot of us. Even if Corral doesn't become a Wilson we did not draft that for a QB in the 1st.

    • My uneducated eye saw him as close after Wilks got him back in. Wilks was very protective of him I thought, didn’t rush him and didn’t ask too much from him at first. I thought he let him get his feet under him. I will bet you Reich could really have helped him. Instead of making that trade and putting Sam out, we should have stayed with him with a real NFL coach. Reich was a good QB coach. You can call his offenses bland but he knew QBs.    I have been so angry with the team.. mainly Tepper I guess, for forcing this unnecessary hardship on us.
    • And timing is everything.  You don't build the roof of a house before you build the foundation.  Teams that draft #1 overall tend to go for QBs and put them in impossible situations.  Our coach sucked.  Our OL sucked (even when Cam was here, but he could overshadow that deficiency), etc.  They seem to have the idea down (Morgan?) but when Bryce gets paid, you can't have $100m going to the OL and $50m to the QB and still have WRs and a Defense.   We have to develop our talent and be prepared to let them walk and retool.  I am still a bit upset by the Horn CB deal.  Look at the salary we have locked up at OG and CB....Yikes. If it were not for MJackson and Coker, we would have been in deep poopie.   I am still fairly optimistic, and I have accepted the fact that Bryce will be our CB for at least another season.  He is improving, but I do not like the fact that he needs so much investment in the OL and WRs to be average--before his mega deal.  I am hoping we draft an QB with potential to develop on day 3 and see what we can do with him.  Long shot, but some of the top names in 2024 are going to be taken late this draft.  Like Purdy (I wanted him around round 5 or 6), or Ewers from last season.  I like several QBs who may not even be drafted, like the kid from Vanderbilt.  I also like Mateer from Oklahoma.  Raw, but a year on the bench could help.
    • We've still fuged up in the past going "BPA". We drafted Butler at DT and Shaq at LB when DT and LB were some of our biggest strengths of the roster. Butler was a flat out bust and Shaq was basically a JAG starter at LB. I know that triggers some folks, but sorry that's just the truth. We overdrafted him then doubled down on that and overpaid him.
