Corral's arm isn't bad but he and Baker don't have similar arms. Baker has significantly better arm talent.

Bull. That's crap. I called you on it before, and I'm calling it on you now.  You act like the tale of the tape has shown some type of amazing arm talent from Mayfield. The fact is that he's been a disappointment.

It's only been less than a week since we started TC but to be honest.  I haven't seen Baker or Sam really take a step forward.  A couple of nice throws here and there but nothing special.

I get the concern about throwing Corral into the starting line up early.  I think we have enough talent offensively that he doesn't have to do it on his own.

If Baker and Sam continue to be unimpressive than our season is sunk anyhow.  Give the rookie a chance and build an offensive game plan around his talent and our playmakers.  Kind of like how Pittsburgh brought Big Ben along so many years ago.

You know the Heisman is a really poor predictor of NFL success, right?

Sure. "Call" me on it. 😂

I don't think you'll find many who agree with you. Fan boy if you want, that's cool. Baker has been a disappointment but the dude has a helluva arm. Do you think Jamarcus Russell and Jeff George didn't have great arms because they were flops?

It really isn't about Corral's skill set--he is impressive.  Transitioning from college to pros is tough for a QB, and the more prepared he is, the higher his chance for success.  He could be ready week 1, but that is highly unlikely.  He could be ready week 8, week 12 or in 2023, but putting him under center before he had demonstrated NFL proficiency is dooming him to the fate of countless others before him.  Yes, he has a good arm.  So did Jamarcus Russell.  Some of you compare him to Russell Wilson--Wilson is one of the most cerebral QBs in the NFL--always has been.  Is Corral there yet?  I have not seen it---yet.  His skills are impressive and we are desperate for a messiah.

Corral came in pissed off, has shown up early every day and is starting to look more relaxed in general from pictures and everything. At the least glad he's not being a diva and just biding his time. Message board aside no one wants a Darnold or PJ autograph, if Tepper wants to go business side on things roll with Baker and Corral, they have more similar arms and playing styles anyway so the adjustments aren't as crazy for the rest of the offense

And I can see that happening.  I am not suggesting that Baker is the answer, but if I look at the players with similar skill sets, I am going with the one with NFL experience until he proves to me that he is not the answer.  During that time, I will be preparing Corral like a NASCAR pit crew.

I just do not see how Sam would be the option if Baker fails, and I think it would be awkward if not toxic to keep him around.  If I am Sam, and I don't earn the starting gig, I want to be cut.

My only issue is we aren't. Rhule is splitting reps between Darnold and Mayfield. Neither Corral or PJ are getting much run. I think you gotta get reps to develop.

My hope is that this is temporary--that when Baker wins the Job, Darnold gets cut or moved to #3

Opinions will vary about Corral but the aspect that should not be disputable is we shouldn't be wasting reps on a QB with no future here and possibly as a starter in the rest of the NFL. Corral should be splitting reps with Darnold from here on out at the very least.

PJ and Sam should be cut like yesterday.  Its insane that they are still wasting space on this roster taking up valuable practice time.

Meh.  Plenty of teams have 4 QBs on the roster at this point. Corral isn't starting anytime soon.  Most backups get limited time with the 1s.  If we could trade Sam, we would.

We'll be down to 3 at the cut and the huddle will still continue to bellyache about this.

I'll take Simms' evaluation over yours. Sorry.

    • I feel the same way. Bryce hasn't proven himself to be so good that he would clearly lap anyone that we'd bring in the compete for the starting job. I think the team is actually afraid to do that. If Bryce goes down does anyone think Kenny Pickett is solid option to replace him?. We can control him for 2026 and 2027. The problem is 2028. Unless he takes a massive leap forward ability wise, I don't see how Carolina can justify paying B.Y. $50 million a year. So far, Bryce has not shown that he can CONSISTENTLY carry a team. He needs to be carried by a strong offensive line, running game, pass catchers and a respectable defense. If he's lacking any of those things I don't think we can make the playoffs in 2026/2027 unless the NFC South is as bad (or worse) than 2025. Unfortunately, athletes and agents have EGOs! When he has a chance for a 2nd contract his management team will probably insist on a "market deal" and feel insulted if they don't get one. That leaves a couple of options if his play hasn't significantly improved. 1) Let him walk and test the market. 2) Franchise him for the 2028 season if you're still not sure about what to do. 3) Extend him to a team friendly deal that pays him below the "current market" which would allow the team to continue to build a solid team to support him. 4) Over pay him and pretty much ruin any chance of becoming a consistent contender. The last option is the LEAST DESIRABLE ONE. The 2026 season is a pivotal season for Bryce and the Carolina Panthers. The success of the next 5-7 years could ultimately be decided on how well plays the next 2 seasons.
    • Thank god BigKat can't buy it because I'd be gone immediately
    • Drake Maye ended up putting almost 300 on them lol. Bryce was stunned from the beginning to end. I know that's an easy comp for the Bryce truthers but no one else put up those puny QB stats against them all season long.
