His recovery once he goes under the knife is basically a year.  So I doubt we see anything from him in 2023

Assuming he goes under the knife, he should be ready by the beginning of preaseason in 2023.

Outcomes of Lisfranc Injuries in the National Football League - PubMed (nih.gov)

Quote

Conclusion: More than 90% of NFL athletes who sustained Lisfranc injuries returned to play in the NFL at a median of 11.1 months from time of injury.

I think he means that he looked like he has a steep learning curve in front of him and that he will almost be starting from scratch in 2023.

I tend to agree. I don't think he will be ready to do much in 2023. Maybe by 2024.

yep and 2 years in the NFL is almost a lifetime meaning a ton of stuff can happen in 24 months

IMO, I think he is probably not going to make an impact for us. He's down a year of development for an injury and he will likely be playing for a new coach in 2023 that has no ties to him.

Unless he really impresses next offseason, I suspect he will get pushed down the chart pretty far. Depends on personnel, of course. If Mayfield signs an extension or we draft a QB in the first two rounds, I don't see him ever getting any meaningful time here.

There is no realistic scenario where he ever starts for us.

Not when they waited almost 3 rounds and wouldn't give up 2023 1st or 2nd pick to get him...

Actions speak louder then words..

If they truly had him as QB1 with a 1st round grade why not give up the high picks next year to get him??

Ok, why the heck did they even draft him in the first place if they were going to put him at the end of the bench? Where was the "in training"? There wasn't. We could have drafted a QB in the 4-5th to put on the bench and develop.

To even be where Matt Corral is today he had to be a good/great QB to be even whispered at being a first rounder or a stone cold lock. He got everything that came with that until the draft. When you're a first round prospect people are coming out of the woodwork to help you. Pedigree. Dude has been groomed to be that guy and he was damn good at it last two seasons.

Stuff got blown up out of proportion before the draft. One comment was hanging with bad company when it was a teammate who went to jail he was corresponding with, he didn't turn his back on the guy because he was a future first rounder.

This kid was hit jobbed and it continued with Rhule all to put the one year wonder Pickett on a pedestal instead of Simba. I hope young lion takes back his birthright.

Dont bother.  National guys and our local guys both have said he needed more reps and him being 4rth string is basically retarded.   Bailey zappe and skyler both came from offenses where they were not under center and somehow managed to be more developed then MC.  Thats on our shitty coaching staff

Simple.. You can take a 3rd round swing on a developmental QB project with elite talent traits.. Teams do it all the time and don't plan to play that player his rookie year..

Its called long term planning.. Good Organization usually draft young QB they develop.. Fitt said he wanted a young QB developing in the room.. And that's what he did..

Here's an article by Person who is no fan of Rhule.  I'm not reading 40 pages, so I don't know if this is posted already:https://theathletic.com/3524514/2022/08/20/panthers-matt-corral-injury/

Injury to Panthers’ Matt Corral unfortunate, but Matt Rhule’s QB plan not to blame

The Panthers have made some bad decisions at quarterback since Rhule arrived before the 2020 season. But this seems more like a case of bad luck.

Read it and this wasn't a mystery to ppl who actually listen and watch the actions of this team.. I don't know what others were doing when this was a sentiment early in TC...

I dont blame Rhule for the injury......BUT the handling part could have been different. I mean backed up in your own end-zone and Corral is in the Shotgun with 4th stringers??? Run the ball, put in 2/3s, put Walker, screen, etc etcetc. I cannot help to think that Rhule was trying to teach Corral "lessons" with always putting him out there with the 4s. Panthers got average 1s, decent 2s.......but the 3s and especially the 4s are far below the other teams 4s. Got a good chance for your future QB....and now hes got to over-come a career ender for some.
