For contrast, just how bad is our OL STILL?

Stilll waiting on access to All-22 but I would say that our primary concern yesterday was Moton and Ickey. Ickey, I get it. T-Mo that was puzzling.

I think we're seeing the effects of having awful leadership at the top. The moral/effort of even good players is plummeting.

The entire organization misevaluated the offensive line in 2021 by thinking Elflein & Erving was the answer and passing on guys like Slater, Creed Humphrey & Trey Smith.

The problem compounded itself into this season. The continued mistakes keep compounding. Tepper is a finance man, he should be recognize negative compound interest.

Could've fooled me.

So PFF is essentially saying ALL pressure is coming from Ickey and Moton.  That would be false...

And it also doesn't explain the avg pocket time of 1.1 seconds lol.

The average pocket time is because Mayfield keeps bailing way to early.

This issue is that Baker is not stepping up into to pocket which leaves the tackles on an island.  He gets happy feet and runs to his right mostly and into the rush. When he stays in the pocket he is hesitant to get the ball out quickly so it makes everyone look worse than deserve and not as good as they could.

I've thought about it quite a bit since yesterday, and the only thing I can figure is that knee must've been a lot worse than we were led to believe.  He looked HORRIBLE.

The Youtube highlight of the game are painful on a variety of fronts. Ickey on one play was leaning forward so far this CB/Small LB on the edge literally just tugged at his jersey/arm/shoulder and he just fell on his face. His false start was also horrible. Otherwise the coaching schemes looked DOA on both sides of the ball in every clip

anecdotally i have seen baker repeatedly flushed out by ends storming past tackles and driving him outside of the pocket

No doubt, that has been where we've seen the most pressure, and the most noticeable instances of it...  I just know I've seen Corbett pushed all the way back into Baker's face multiple times to where he's had to move immediately as well, so I don't buy those grades/rankings.

Just from the eye-test, I think BC has been far and away our best OL this season...  I know it's just two games, but you never notice him for the wrong reasons.

    • Great point.    I would lke to add that there is another QB on the roster who was terrible over the middle--Kenny Pickett.
    • I don't think this is the year for Carolina, unfortunately.  I think they will have to make a decision on the QB position-all we know is that Bryce has year 5, but a long term deal has not been signed--yet--and they would be smart to take a "wait and see" approach.  I have not kept up, and I see a path to upside for Bryce, but I do not think we have aggressively pursued a QB when our QB was mediocre to worse than mediocre.  yes, his numbers are improving--but he has adapted by eliminating what he does poorly and not improving on what he does poorly.  Just my take and I have no data to support this view.   Basically, we go as Bryce goes, so the approach is not to bring in a QB to have him compete until we find one, but it is to make Bryce as good as he can be--is that good enough? Season ticket holders buy the hope of winning rings, not winning 8 games. Last year, Bryce had a resurgence.  Take away TMac and Rico Dowdle.  How good was he?  I still have hope.  Not a hater of plan A, but a hater because we have no plan B.
    • Yeah man, I've been here for a very very long time. Couldn't even begin to tell you what year. Maybe 2004 or 5? I've never really been super active, just enjoy reading everyone's opinions and discussions. I'll chime in from time to time. I have had a few different accounts over the years. It's always been a fun place for me to check in on my favorite team. Hopefully we can keep the place running for a long while still. I also would like to recommend bringing back the Lovely Ladies page!
