100% in for this.  Pro Bowl should be for the Best of each team... and a skills comp allows them to show off and earn true bragging rights, and flag football is just fun.

Plus a minimal amount of injury potential compared to a full-pad game

In like 1999 a guy ruined his knee during a pro bowl sponsored pickup game, super messed up

I'll watch it if the best of the best do the skills. Don't need to watch their version of the NBA dunk contest.

This would be the "Touchdown Celebrations That Might Be Against NFL Rules" exhibition on ESPN 8 The Ocho.

  • Solo (no props)
  • Solo (with ball as prop)
  • Team (no props)
  • Team (with ball as prop)

10 second max per performance.  Scored on a 1-10 scale from a judges panel made up of the at least one sideline reporter from FOX, NBC, and CBS and a few retired HOF players who could offer entertaining insight. Highest and lowest scores are tossed, average out the rest.

Yeah, I'd watch it.  Maybe on fast forward, but I'd watch it.

From the press release:

  • Produced by Peyton Manning (hey, so at least it has some football cred behind the scenes)
  • The new event will be renamed “The Pro Bowl Games” and will feature AFC and NFC players showcasing their football and non-football skills in challenges over several days.
  • The NFL has a major interest in flag football. The league partnered with the International Federation of American Football to bring flag football to The World Games in July with an eye on the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Not sure we'll see very many Panthers in here this season, but this is actually the right call for the NFL.

Well.... if some of the criteria is fan-based voting, and it's mandatory for every team to have at least one or two representatives (at least), then there may be a chance we'll see, uh.... (checks notes).... Clausen?

Best uniforms ever?

The league should have just gotten rid of the pro bowl altogether no revamp will ever make it relevant or more than vaguely interesting.

I actually like this idea.

Heck, most major league sports have some sort of all star competition. We seem to be going more in the direction of basketball as opposed to baseball.

In the old days Pro Bowl meant something.  That was in the days where players weren't getting millions and millions of dollars.   Today these players are not going to risk a serious injury playing a insignificant game.

They should break the AFC and NFC into 4 divisions.  Combine the AFCN and S and AFCW and E and the same for the NFC and play three flag football games.

Or chose Two captains from each conference and let them choose sides.

1 hour each.   It would be a 3- or 4-hour event.

Winning team gets a winner take all pot.  That would put some excitement into the Pro Bowl.
