So what's up with the batted balls?

To be honest, when Watt or others are leaping over eight foot in air doesn't matter if the QB is 6'6 they smell blood in water.

I've noticed that when the players on opposing teams dont get through their blocks.... they stop in their tracks and just watch the QB and then jump to bat the ball. I called that out against the Giants... i found it interesting because it seemed to be coached.

Batted balls happen to every QB at some time. Josh Allen had 3 batted balls in the Ravens game. There are things both the o-line and QB can do to minimize it. One thing I noticed was that when the defensive player would stop with his hands up our blocker would also sorta' kinda' stop too with their momentum going backwards. They have to be coached to counter that; it's in the footwork. I also think all d-line coaches are emphasizing this in practice because it works and, until it doesn't work, they will continue to do so.

As far as the Saints overcoming Brees' batted balls, we all know that Payton's o-lines were always shadow holding until the refs called it the first time. They got away with it a lot.

It's even more bad Baker is making those comments which imply our coaching staff isn't already putting him through some drills to mitigate this issue. Guess they're too busy putting together more PowerPoint slides.

This wouldn’t have happened if we still had the DBO sign

It’s called elbow slot drills. The goal is to get the elbow to 45 degrees above the shoulder 6” x 6” above the shoulder. It helps with release and accuracy. Not trying to be a know it all but this is high school stuff.

I mean this plus his height and arm length.

Plus predictable short passes to the outside. Those require the ball to come in hot and low.

it’s all a recipe for what we are seeing.

life is easy on those defenders trying to bat what they know is coming down

    • https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp Going by this chart that won’t get it done, at all.  both of our 5th rounders are worth 56, total.    The 51st is valued at 390. Moving to 41 takes 100 points. In the second where we are, it is basically 10 points per slot. You can get in front of TB for 60 points. Baltimore at 45.  Which who would do that for 56 points? You are on a wing and a prayer.    To realistically have a good shot at these top guys, outside of Golday, it is gonna take at least 100 points, I am thinking.  And when they go, Golday’s market probably gets a lot hotter.  Just going by the rankings/valuations, I am thinking if you realistically want to assure you get your guy it will take trading back in the first. Which is why I have been saying to do that if we can.  For example 19 is valued at 875. 21 is 800. That, plus one of the 5ths gets you to 100 points which you theoretically could use to get to 41.    I think there are going to be several good options for us at 19, if we are good with taking what is left at 21-23 we can get a good player plus fund a trade up for one of these LBs which is what I am thinking makes sense.
    • Alabama money line is a big one.
    • I'm just letting everyone know he's on the list in the second tier, not that I think it gets there because Donovan wants the job.  UNC is waiting on Lloyd and Arizona's run to end, if that doesn't work out then Donovan is likely the new head coach.
