there are now 5 openings at power 5 schools.  Hopefully he takes one in the next month or so.

He is a bad NFL coach.  And that’s a okay.  That can be said about a lot of college coaches.  2 different games.  He knows that now I think.  He isn’t going to come out of this.  He doesn’t belong here.  Better college coaches have realized this too.

We are in a bad situation. We have a coach that just doesn't have what it takes to be a an NFL coach and then we have an owner who doesn't have what it takes to make a tough decision and get rid of the coach who doesn't belong in the NFL due to owners who of not wanting to appear he was wrong. This is a huge issue as nothing can happen until Tepper admits he was wrong and just gets rid of the unqualified coach. I really don't understand the issue or ego with admitting you were wrong and working to correct it? That's just life and in life we all make mistakes and then when realized we correct and attempt to better a situation. Ignorance comes into okay when one is too hard headed to admit and their ego is so blown high that they end up hurting themselves worse due to just not wanting to ever appear wrong. This is a lethal combo we have here currently. Bad coach and owner who can't admit he was wrong.

The pressure is being ramped back up so I expect we will soon hear a lot worse from him.

When Rhule and Snow leave to go back to school it will be a great day. I'm not sure Tepper will fire Rhule before the big school openings are closed. He apears that petty and I can only imagine where he is at in the coping process of his epic and public failure at this point.

I think this sums up the situation, Waldo.

Tepper should be beyond the disbelief stage and probably past denial. Whether he is in the guilt/pain, bargaining, anger, depression, or acceptance phase is anybody's guess.  I'm thinking anger or depression, but that's just me.

I saw an article in the Arizona Republic (the big Phoenix newspaper) from about 3 days ago that was thinking Rhule was a leading name for the Arizona State job.  Tepper may want to consider offering to pay for a new building or two on campus if they hire him.

Tepper at anger should be interesting to see. I think if he was there Rhule would look like he did in week 17 last season. Tepper looks like a natural bargainer to me but either way it will probibly all get louder from here on out. Looks like the media smells blood and has already brought out the knives.

If Tepper fires Rhule, and Rhule gets a good college job, does that reduce the amount of money that Tepper owes him?

In a normal NFL coaching contract, yes.  The amount the Panthers owe him would be offset by all or a major portion of whatever his new job pays him.  Also, normally, the fired coach is required to actively seek another job.

What Rhule's contract says on those matters may be different, although I would hope not.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
