It's valid that he didn't deserve to get fired by the Dolphins when he did. It's also valid that he wasn't really all that successful with the Dolphins either.

Throw in the talk about toxic environments and the fact that he comes from the Belichick coaching tree, and there are a lot of questions to be asked.

That being said, its difficult to repeat success as a Super Bowl winner.   For that matter, its difficult to get to and win the Super Bowl  The odds are stacked against any  specific team and coach. 

How long ago were those examples though.

I have criteria for our next head coach. 

1.  Previous NFL experience as an OC or DC.

2. Hire an OC that has a freaking imagination and not someone who runs an old-school offense.

3. A defensive coordinator that utilizes the talent we have on this team.  We struggled so many years without a good backend.  Now we have one and we don't utilize those players strengths. 

Dorsey, IMO, benefits from having Allen and I am not sure he'd be as good with a rookie or an average QB.   He kind of reminds me of Nagy when he had Manning.

Now with that said, there's an argument to be made that if you don't keep up with the way league offenses are going right now, your risk being left behind.

If you watched the Chiefs-Bills playoff game last season, you'd have to ask yourself whether a defense based team could have withstood that.

Yea that's one of the main things these days, great offensive coaches can really hurt great defensive teams by scheming and finding the mismatches and exploiting.   Not always of course but it definitely seems to help.

Don't know if that's going to happen, but if it does it puts them in the company of groups like The Greatest Show on Turf.

It’s really impressive. We’ve gone the DC route so many times… It’s all a risk…I’d like to see what this guy can do with a QB of his choice and full say so. Mcaffery would avg 10 yds a carry. Retreads (coach and QB)scare me. As do college coaches now ha.

The reason you want your HC as OC or at least partly your OC is that if you have a good OC, he's more than likely going to get hired away fairly quickly. Just look at the guys we're talking about.

That's one reason why if we did go the young offensive mind route, I'd like to hire an older OC, preferably a former head coach. Ditto on the defensive side.
