Tepper trying to dance around the 7-year contract.  Without saying it, basically said he gambled (and lost) and would do more a 'traditional' contract next time.

Big question (long winded version by reporter) about tanking (wihtout saying the word "tanking": Tepper wants to win now.  Not that he would say the tank is on publicly anyway.

Just in time to win the division. Although y’all may have trouble with the unofficial don’t tackle Tom Brady rule.

How close can you get to him?  Is it like the college "halo" rule used to be for punt returns, if you get within x distance of him the flags fly?

The halo is apparently bigger when Jerome Boger is throwing the flag.

It is the Tom Brady…. Er,, Ah , Flag football rule.  You have to pull his towel.

What a clown

This is why we sucked so bad, we had a guy with very little football knowledge putting his hands on everything.

Tepper could have just had a raffle on the Huddle for the next HC and had as much success as we did with Rhule. For every two steps we took forward, he made sure to make us take 3 steps back.

Firing the coach of a decent performing D but keeping the coach of a putrid performing O is the type of move that Wilks got fired for when he tanked for Muray in Arizona.

Its a good question.  Why would he do that?

Wilks got fired in Arizona largely because they’re a sh-tty organization.

David Tepper was wise to not delay the inevitable with Matt Rhule

Plenty of successful businesspeople can’t quite figure out how to run a successful football team. Some business principles, however, translate very well to football.

Case in point — when you know that you’re going to move on from a key employee, there’s no reason to delay the inevitable.

That’s what Panthers owner David Tepper has done. He decided that coach Matt Rhule would eventually be fired, so Tepper did it now.

Beyond the obvious fact that there’s no reason to wait, the move puts Rhule immediately in play for one of the various head-coaching jobs that will be available at the college level. With the Panthers getting a dollar-for-dollar credit against Rhule’s buyout on what he makes elsewhere, it’s in Tepper’s financial interests to put Rhule in position to have a land rush for his services.

There likely will be one. He’s been excellent at the college level. At the NFL level, like so many other great college coaches, not so much.

By making the move now, it means not as much of Tepper’s money will be going to Rhule in the form of a buyout.

    • honestly this doesn't bug me at all, but one time of life was fast driving too.....then traffic took over and my age started to take my "plums"...... His short arms, that's will cause him to fall even with his great tape. If by some chance, he fell to panthers 100% Dan would draft him. He's spoke glowingly and said no chance.   I mean if get truthful background checks on every player, draft would be short.....
    • Csx you're smart enough to overlook the roster and see slot or alpha starter TE as weak points. I don't want WR either, but I see the names Moore, horn as the "hope" of filling that slot role. Plus I showed you Cokers injury history and his off-season in benj fatty camp. You can make a case that offense does need a weapon, even chubba does not scare defenses. You know its about scoring TDs and preventing them, Shaq, lemon, cooper would put more pressure on the other teams D in stopping them.  There's not a DT worth the 19 and roster wise, there's not many holes...then if you are using the value smarts during the draft, do not use a 1st on C, NT, or S(unless Ed Reed clone). Ive said many many, if I had GM and felt good about keeping my job for the next couple years...Im taking a line man, preference LT, DE, edge, RT, or DT. Id say the same dang thing for 2nd, add in LB, CB, and this would be my window in adding a WR or TE....they'd have to special and falling, but I prefer waiting until the 3rd. Id even pull a old gettlegut and double up like he did with star and kk....Id draft 2 OT with the first 2 picks... same about DL...
