A NFL team should not plan to tank for the highest draft pick

If they have any pride at all, then play the hardest you can to win. If you suck and lose out, that's fine.

If playing with half hearted effort and a losing mentality, then go the fug home. I'd rather have a team that gives 110% then one that drags ass across the field in a losing effort.

Never a sure thing in the draft. Play to win and let the chips fall where they may.

What do you want them to? Just lay down and give up? Yes Pride....in themselves as men. You always give the best effort you can at your profession.

More often then not the #1 overall does not end up changing the course of a franchise (just looking back on the last 30 years of #1 overalls).  It would be much better if Wilks managed to turn some things around this season and identify core players to build around.

There aren't any "psst... let them win" conversations. The conversations with the players and coaches are like this now "psst... the coaches were fired, the players are next, so give it your all."

Even so, it's better if we lose out for draft position. We're not trying to lose, but losing helps us at this point.

    • The good thing about replacing a bad player is you really have nothing to lose. If their replacement is bad so what, you didn't get much worse and probably saved money.
    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
