No it wasn’t. Kicker missed a similar kick to a normal PAT in overtime. No reason to believe he would have made it without the penalty

There's every reason to believe it. He hadn't missed one ALL season. A routine PAT, plain and simple.

DJ whom I really like as player.....Come on man! Why would he make such a bone headed move? Of course I'm not convinced Pinero could hit from three yards out at the end anyhow!

Pinero not one but TWO chances to seal a game and misses EACH?

Twilight Zone game that we should have won. So damn frustrating!!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!

What The Hell Community GIF

....i prefer to call him Penisero.....hit the road...if wilks wants to make a statement to the big guy...i'd hack him tomorrow...but in fairness.... DJ cost us the game...

Keep babying DJ. You can get his yards/target from any NFL caliber WR. You can easily replace his 4 TDs per year, and you will likely find a tougher and more competitive WR who can be clutch.

DJ has never been clutch. His one clutch moment you have been waiting 5 seasons for ended up as a boneheaded mistake you want to forget.

DJ is easier to replace than Cam Newton or CMC.

He did not. Moreover, a routine PAT in regulation is entirely different than a FG in over time. They try and ice kickers on FGs for a reason.

I would not consider the end of regulation XP to be a routine kick. It was a pressure kick, he missed. Given an easier but still pressure kick, he missed.

How close would it needed to have been to be considered an easy kick in OT, inside the 10?

I don’t blame DJ at all. He played hero ball today and the refs were looking for any reason to fug us.

A professional kicker should make 30yd + FG. The dude is paid 100’s of thousands of dollars to make a fuging kick.

In a dome nonetheless

    • I just don't think some guys have it. Darnold has the panic gene. I don't think there's any fixing it. He looks really good as long as the play develops as drawn up or if he gets pressured immediately and has to go to his check down right away. It's when he has decent protection and his first read isn't open and he's standing back there in the pocket with that panic slowly building. That's when he does disastrous poo.
    • based on the QBs drafted #1 comparison thread, he’s right where he should be. if your expectations were to have a rookie lead us to the playoffs without an OL and WR corps, maybe your expectations were a bit off.
    • at some point, though, you just have to suck it up and accept it and deal with the bad deal you got.  you go through funks where you keep making mistakes and hope that you get it figured out sometime soon, but in the learning process you realize you could have done some things better but you're stuck with decisions you make. you have two choices...whine about it or just brush it off and hope can make the situation you put yourself work. i know a lot of people in here have probably never experienced or dealt with failure much in their lives, but i have and i learned to just suck it up and try to make the best of the situation you've got yourself in because you realize that you're stuck with it for a while. doesn't do any good to keep harping over what you wish you had done better. you already know that. now it's just about moving forward from here and making the best of it and hoping you can make something of it. it's the easiest thing in the world to look at where Bryce falls short...and yes, that was intentional. everyone knows that and all that is done is beating that horse laying on the ground. what takes some work is trying to see how it can work and if they have done and are doing things to help the situation get better.
