I'm not saying this to you specifically, but I see this argument all the time about teams not wanting to trade within their division and I really don't understand it.  No team makes a trade they think they are losing out on, within the division or otherwise.  Either you think it's fair and balanced or you think you're getting the better end of it.  Trades are simply an exchange of assets and if you think you're getting more valuable assets from your trade partner than what you're giving up, then wouldn't you be more inclined to trade within the division and essentially "screw over" a rival?  If I'm the Saints, I'd love to take two of the Panthers' 1st round picks off their hands unless I actually think Payton is worth more than that.  In which case, I wouldn't trade him to any team for the same reason.

Like what is the unique logic applied to trading within your division that doesn't apply to trading outside of the division?  Is it something to do with said player/coach having inside knowledge?  Cause you could more-or-less get the same thing from signing some Practice Squad guy or some vet FA bum who previously played for that team.  Is it because that player/coach is gonna get some kind of motivational boost to try and stick it to their previous team?

It happens all the time. Name the last team to even trade a player to a rival. It's very rare. Most teams won't even trade draft position with a rival team much less a SB winning coach.

Oh I know, I'm not disputing that it's a thing.  I'm only questioning the rationale behind it.

Just not wanting to risk your job making your division better. Kinda like not helping the guy who's shooting for your promotion.

Nah.

Hell Nah.

Want no part of Sean Payton.

Will not support the team in any way shape or form if he's ever part of it.

I feel sure Sean Payton wants nothing to do with the Panthers and I want the Panthers to have nothing to do with Sean Payton.

“F*ck you. I’m drafting Chuba Hubbard. My wife told me it was not optional.”

I swear every time I see this picture I think of that kid in grade school that always crapped his pants.  Hell he looks like he just did or in the process.

Bush is one of the biggest busts of all time, even with a relatively okay career.

Dude was the “next Barry Sanders” and the Texans were ridiculed for drafting the better player #1.

Bush was one of the most overhyped players in NFL draft history.

Bush was a monster in college and just wasn't used correctly in the NFL.  If he was drafted now, he would probably be very dynamic in the league.  I'm not saying he would be CMC but he would be used like that.  I just think he was ahead of his time and not used correctly.  Also when he was drafted it wasn't a general consensus yet that RBs aren't worth getting picked that high but it was right at the cusp at the realization being made across the NFL.  We went and drafted CMC and ignored all the data though lol.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
