Do the Canes Now Have a Goalie Dilemna?

Andersen gets hurt and Kochetkov gets recalled from Chicago.

Raanta and Kochetkov split time in the crease until Thursday night. Raanta gets pulled following the second intermission. He gave up 3 goals in 15 shots, and, giving Raanta the benefit of the doubt, 2 of them were soft.

Andersen is skating in Raleigh and his return appears to be imminent, but it's only a matter of time before he's hurt again.

So, with Andersen's $4.5M, Raanta's $2M and Kochetkov's $842k now and $2M starting next season, what are the Canes options? They can't assign either Andersen or Raanta to Chicago without waiving them first and see if they clear. Will they send Kochetkov back to Chicago once Andersen is healthy?

Let's read your thoughts!

Not a chance in hell Koochie goes back to Chicago.  He is our now and future. Anderson or raanta gets traded. It’s that easy. We could use another defenseman or goal scorer.  Send him to Chicago for Patrick Kane.

Omg, I just realized ive been getting you confused with someone else on the huddle that has the same name as you but has Cat instead of Panthers in the name. Now Idk who has posted what in the past lolll

    • Oh yeah the QB is huge in this stuff. Imagine what Smitty could have done with a surgeon back there. And some more offensive minded head coaches. It was always run heavy. He was one of the best I ever saw and people didn’t know who he was outside of Carolina, for the longest time.
    • For sure, any college scout that touted Bryce Young as worth the first overall pick, needs to be gone. I don’t think the college scouts are so much the issue, I think it is the minds of the decision makers that have the most influence.  If this draft produces, and Morgan was really in charge, maybe Tepper will develop some respect and stay back and let people work.
    • I just am not aware of regimens that offer increased velocity which is the biggest weakness I can see in Young (that needs addressing right now). Is it possible to do? Who has done it that we can see as an example? I guess I am saying before I believe weights will give him added zip on the ball, I would want proof that it works.    I think weight room would help him not be pulled down by two fingers, even if they are big strong DL fingers. They are still fingers controlling 185 lbs. So that needs to be addressed but it is a secondary issue behind his footwork and ball velocity. It might help too, in allowing him to retain some velocity while not putting 100% effort into throws. Which should help his ‘deep’ ball.  I agree they can’t fix his footwork on those pistol or gun snaps where he slowly goes backwards and does the tippy toe thing.  Maybe putting him under center and taking the option of that type of drop away from him, forcing him into the classic under center style. Drop and plant and throw. Maybe that would help get around it.
