A quick check of stats shows that teams were actually averaging slightly more ppg in 2004 than they are this year.  2004 is as far as the stats go back on the site I checked.

I found the 2003 stats.

In 2003, 7 teams were averaging more than 25 a game, with one averaging more than 30.  This year, 7 teams are averaging more than 25 points a game, none of them are up at 30.  

 

Looking at the top rushing teams, in 2003 the Ravens were the top rushing team, with 167 yards a game. This year the Bears are the top, with nearly 190 while the Eagles are second with 163.  Admittedly, the styles are different, but running the ball and playing defense are still very good ways to win.  


That being said, of course we need better qb play to have a chance at the Super Bowl.  Hopefully, we will get it in the offseason.
