Of course it was the right move.My pt was we were not trying to tank.

That's what the Pro-Tank crowd never understands (or refuses to).

the problem is that some team cultures just accept losing. that was the panthers culture when cam came into town. losing was just ok...no big deal. and that's what had become the case while rhule was here with those who bought into what rhule was doing, but there was apparently some holdover from the pre-rhule era, like shaq, who never gave that up. that puts his comments from a week or so back in context. wilks, in very short time, changed the culture from a care-free/hunger-free one to one that cares and is hungry again. he pretty much reset the clock. 

whatever direction we go next year, this team should be hungry next year and ready to fight. the damage done by rhule to the culture has been fixed. 

i'd be happy with a hire like harbaugh or maybe some offensive guru type because i think they could take us to the next level, but i also wouldn't be upset if wilks was given the job. i think this team with wilks would keep pushing forward and with him we would be a legit playoff team. we would have been this year if he started earlier.

The players definitely want Wilks. They may not get what they want, and maybe they shouldn't, but nobody can doubt they would follow him.

Cool, I hope they don't get what they want but I do get wanting the boss you like after having Rhule pulling his BS. 

Would Harbaugh be a good fit going from the guy the players want to him? Just asking. He seems to have a strong personality but I can't remember the players in SF being part of his issues there.

By year four, a lot of players hated Harbaugh. There was a lot of roster turnover too.

I am hoping that Tepper is not gun-shy on trying out new HC candidates because of Rhule. Playing it safe is not the direction this team needs, and it will keep this team at or below .500 if Wilks stays. It was clear as day yesterday that Wilks is not the calculated risk-taker that this team needs. We could all see that aggressiveness was needed when you are outmatched in a certain area, and you have to take advantage of any opportunity that is presented. Wilks and his staff can't see that, and I don't want to see any more of their brand of all-talk-no-walk, chickenshit football.

Wilkes did what he could to make this team the best it could be. He came within a couple of plays of having the Panthers winning the division. A terrible call on a player for taking off his helmet, one stop by a cornerback against Tampa and this is a different conversation. Wilkes is doing what any of us would have done, trying to save his job or have a worthwhile resume for his next landing place. If Fitterer (or whoever the GM is) does their job as well as Wilkes has this team will be in a much better place to start next season than we were this season.

      That may be true but not having a competent and talented safety is what let Stafford cook us down the field in almost less than 1 minute and bouncing us out the playoffs.  Scott is a liability in each level of the game IMO and a versatile player at that position can completely change the look of a defense just as much as a pass rusher. Knocked down passes big moments, turnovers, TFL, QB pressures on blitzes, etcetera.   I'm  not saying you don't want us to draft a safety, but most of us should agree that WE NEEEED a lights out safety on this team finally.  If DM moves up a spot before Vikings and not give up much to snag him for us I won't be mad in slightest. This kid is a DAWG and I believe he could possibly be a staple on this defense the likes of the guys we still sing praises for Peppers, Kuechly, Davis, Rucker, Beason, Morgan, Gamble..............Thieneman?

      Picks: Nos. 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 I'm extremely excited for the Panthers' 2026 draft. How could you not be? After two straight offseasons of aggressive defensive spending, coordinator Ejiro Evero's unit looks ready to make the leap. Jaelan Phillips and Devin Lloydfill out two of the biggest gaps on the roster, though the Panthers should not be discounted from drafting a top edge rusher early. Phillips is a major injury risk and not a sack artist, so he doesn't fully solve the Panthers' 5.3% sack rate from last season (27th in the league). The Panthers might be the Akheem Mesidor(Miami) team, as they need his production immediately. The Panthers are also often tagged as the Kenyon Sadiq team, which is very possible. No one among Tommy Tremble, Ja'Tavion Sanders and Mitchell Evans has played his way into an unquestioned starting role. But the Panthers do have three tight ends on the roster, two of whom are on rookie contracts. Sadiq would fit nicely in Dave Canales' offense, which has a dynamic screen game and schemes up targets well. But I'd like to see an accompanying move to make room at the position for Sadiq's snaps to love the pick. There's much more room at wide receiver, where a second three-level option to run besides Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan could really bust open this offense. I could see an early pick spent in the secondary, which might come as a surprise to some. Slot corner Chau Smith-Wade has been fine but could be improved upon if an elite nickel option is available at No. 51 (think D'Angelo Ponds from Indiana or Keionte Scottfrom Miami). Depth behind the outside corners is also quite thin, and Mike Jackson (29 years old) is in a contract year, so a player with inside-out versatility would have even more value. Clemson's Avieon Terrell, anyone? The Panthers can also buttress the slot by drafting a safety with good man coverage traits to play opposite Tre'von Moehrig, as neither Lathan Ransom nor Nick Scott has emphatically secured that role. Treydan Stukes(Arizona) is another option who would make a lot of sense at No. 51. Bottom line: Wide receiver, pass rusher and defensive back are the big needs. Attack them aggressively -- this is the end of Bryce Young's rookie contract, so it's time to push
