I want a more explosive offense but you can’t deny that this is a playoff team had Wilks not taken over sooner.

Horn being out was the reason we lost to Tampa. Refs stole W’s against the Browns and Falcons. That would have made us a 10 win team. 
 

A 10 win team with no real stud opposite Burns, no emerging TE, average at best QB play. The team is talented in the right parts to take the next step. Another solid draft and some stability at QB will make us a scary team. A new HC could squander the talent we have and upend a lot of progress trying to make it “their team”.

Its definitely a risk and maybe its just my personality but I would still rather gamble swinging for the fence than take a safe single.  Singles are all we've ever had as a franchise so to speak.  Plenty of safe conservative defensive coaches.  If you're asking me to pick between high floor low ceiling or low floor high ceiling,  I'm always taking the ceiling

Matt Rhule was never an offensive minded head coach. Every place he has been he brought Phil Snow with him and they fixed the defense but they never had great offense. Matt Rhule has been a head coach for like 10 years and he has had an offense ranked in the top half of the NFL or College 1 time.

A playoff team this year is a giant asterisk when you consider how bad the NFC South was - it would have been an early exit the second we played a team with any semblance of a run defense. The Steelers physically dominated us with their backup QB, and we didn't even belong on the same field as the Bengals. I shudder to think of what would happen against the Niners or Eagles.

I am beyond convinced that a large percentage of Huddle members spend their entire paychecks on lottery tickets.

"You spent $1000 on lottery tickets?"
"Yeah but I could win $5000!"
"But the odds are astronomical and you're way more likely to just be out $1000!"

It's also worth considering that the odds of Tepper hiring someone like Nathaniel Hackett, or even Nathaniel Hackett himself, are overwhelming. It's almost a guarantee at this point. Then, looking back, people will wish Wilks was kept.

Hey! How dare you forget Mrs. Tepper. Between the two of them and the wheeler dealer himself Scott Fitterer we for sure should be contending for Super Bowls very soon.

That's why I want Wilks. Not because he's 1A, but because he's far better than anyone Tepper can find. Plus, the players want him -- which, when he's not chosen, keep an eye on how tough it is to lure FAs here without paying twice the market rate.

      Overall, fine.  Wish we landed a guy to pair with Lloyd but I presume this means they're giving Trevin one final year to put it together (72nd overall 2 years back).  Flashed potential year 1, had a dud last year.   R1: Freeling LT - Great value and a need; landed our new long term LT that could end up starting off the bat.  Icky had a terrible injury and is not playing in his contract year.  Walker is what he is on a 1-year rental, who even knows how he fits. You get premier OTs early if you can find em' and he has what you want.  I thought he could have gone as high as 6/CLE pre-draft, so am a big fan of the selection.  Looking at this class, he's one of the guys at the top that is like "okay that's the LT".  Others have this right/left or G/T type discussion about them.  Freeling is an LT.   R2: Hunter NT - We didn't really have anyone replacing A'Shawn's snaps in our rotation.  Wharton & Brown aren't 3 downers so adding Hunter to the mix fills a big void. I dug deep into S and LB this draft so was a bit to zeroed in - In recognize the value and impact add in the trenches. R3: Brazzell WR - Intriguing.  Given our history, I don't really want to place any expectations here, but a different style weapon for Bryce. I pretty much expect a WR drafted yearly with this regime. Other notables.. Hecht C - These are the type of rounds where starting centers have been found.  We got a starter for this year, but Hecht seems pretty capable and I like it for a long term find.  SOLID AF.  Wheatley S - A pretty well regarded safety prospect.  And we see it every year (like this one) safeties get hyped, people think they may go sooner than expected, and the league reminds them how it rolls.  Plenty of nice safeties have been found in the 4th-6th in recent years.  Big fan of Wheatley. Can't say I know enough about Lee or the others.

      I'm excited. I love situations like this when you could potentially find a diamond in the rough on the cheap. And you know guys like this are gonna put in the work and desire way more than others to be great.
