Again, I didn't really have a favorite either way.  I just knew I wanted a OC or offensive-oriented coach with a track record of great playcalling/scheme design, and preferably a younger guy, but that's not a deal breaker.

It's sounding more and more like we essentially already have a handshake agreement in place with Payton.  I know officially they shouldn't have even negotiated or anything, but that's like believing tampering doesn't happen every offseason.

Whatever the deal is, I just know we desperately need to get this one right this time.  Probably the most important coaching hire in our history and it's going to determine a lot about Tepper if it hasn't been already.

My guess is he interviewed this week and his experience was brought up or he didn’t interview well and decided to go back.

Need to see more out of him than one season.

On to Steichen and Payton

you’re weirdly emotionally invested in this

This is a very true possibility. It’s all gonna be speculation until something comes out but a number of coaches use interview experience looking to be hired 2-3 years down the road.

Honestly, what got me started on all this was I was researching previous head coaching cycles and came across a lot of similar hype and things being said about Gase at the time.

I did some more research and there are similarities regardless of what Mr. Scot says.

Everytime I bring them up everyone gets defensive without bringing up anymore subject matter.

    • exactly good call on your part
    • I’m really having a hard time understanding how this actually went down. -Renfrow expected to make roster as 2nd/3rd string. -Panthers cut Renfrow; Keep Brycen Tremayne, and add UDFA receiver (Dalevon Campbell) to active roster.  -Canales/Morgan say it’s totally up to Hunter whether he wants to come back or not, they would love to have him.    -Renfrow not signed to PS -Panthers trade Adam Thielen -Hunter Renfrow signed to active roster with a raise after an injury to Coker nobody heard about and is likely to start.    Our WR room is now: -Xavier Legette (2024 1st round pick) -Tet McMillan (2025 1st round pick) -Hunter Renfrow (1 year out of the league) -David Moore (Canales’ friend? A guy way past his prime) -Jimmy Horn (Likely a Shi Smith reprint, but has potential 2025 6th round pick, weighs 174 lbs) -Brycen Tremayne (2023 UDFA who was on Washington’s PS for 2 years and caught 1 pass for -2 yards and averaged 300 yards per year at Stanford) -Dalevon Campbell (2025 UDFA had a good preseason but had 1463 yards and 3 TDs over 5 college seasons at 3 different schools). What the hell is going on?
