I trust that he along with Fitt, Morgan and the scouting department can find a qb for the future of the franchise. I think that qb will be Stroud

I think we get Stroud at 9. Young be pick #2 & another team will fall in love with Levi’s. This would be an ideal scenario saving our draft capital with a potential move back to late first. round.

Which is why I was such a big fan of Steichen -- he has experience developing Herbert and Hurts. Herbert was picked high but was by no means a unanimous top QB choice and we could get a similar caliber prospect around 9 or maybe with a smaller trade up. Hurts was a 2nd rounder and many were not high on him at all pre-draft.

Same, although I had a brief affair with Ben Johnson.

However, I give Reich about a 40% chance of busting, Steichen I wouldn't have had that much hope for success....however if he did succeed, the highs would be higher.

I think Frank can bring some consistency, and I'm guessing that Tepper is ready for some of that.

How about trading our 1st for Purdy or Lance if (a big if) one becomes available. Having either of them along with Corral would be a plus as I see it.

Not a chance in hell. Purdy has a tiny sample size in an elite offense, he may not even be that good. Nick Foles and others have had similar stretches of even better play than him. Lance hasn't shown enough in the NFL yet to be worth even a 2nd. I'd trade a 3rd for him but not any more, certainly not 9th overall

Same thought applies to those qbs in the draft, maybe 2nd or a 3rd , certainly not 9th overall.

    • All these rankings have more to do with the writers love or hate for a team.  Morgan, IMO, has done a really good job at building this team.  Yeah, there are a couple of whiffs but for the most part he has done quite well drafting and signing free agents.  22 is a bit low but it's a stupid opinion based on how little a writer knows about the Panthers.
    • When I saw that I was thinking the same thing.  If Evero does have a great season and gets hired as a head coach I wouldn't mind see McD as our DC.  If we do poorly as a team, I definitely would want him to be the front runner for HC.
    • But it's not about not upsetting a player under contract, it's about not causing a rift in the locker room. The players love Bryce, whether as a person or a player doesn't matter.  You can't spend a Top 10 pick on a QB and then still start your #1 overall pick in the last year of their contract. That act alone will cause a massive locker room rift/distraction that would be unavoidable.  Some players will question why you "wasted" a Top 10 pick on a QB you're not going to start instead of someone who can help right away.  While others will question why we are keeping Bryce around for the season when it's clear he's not the future guy at that point. It would just make for a bad start to the rookie's career while causing locker room distractions.  Again, I'd bet this has never happened in this league before with any 1st round QB, let alone the #1 overall pick, and there is a reason for it, which is that it would be epically stupid to do. And I used the Vikings as the example as they're the closest I can think of, because again, there isn't a direct comparison as nobody has ever done it because it's that dumb of an idea (no offense lol).
