Sabastian Aho 25-years old, contract expires 24/25

Andrei Svechnikov-22 years old, contract expires 29/30

Jesperi Kotkaniemi 22 years old, contract expires 29/30

Seth Jarvis-21 years old, contract expires 23/24

Pyotr Kochetkov-23 years old, contract expires  26/27

Martin Necas-24 years old, contract expires 23/24

Jacob Slavin-28 years old, contract expires 25/26

Jalen Chatfield-26 years old, contract expires 22/23 This year!! (We must resign, dude is playing lights out, may be one of our best defenseman)

If think we are in pretty good shape. Jordan Staal and Chatfield are the ones I most most concerned about. I’m not sure how much Jordan has left (desire) in the tank. Also, Burns is sign through next 2 seasons 24/25.

Everyone you mentioned besides Svech, KK, Koch would have to get a new deal within the next 2 years.

Word on the (twitter) streets is that SJ wanted Necas, A-level prospect and multiple picks...

Honestly, if NJ is dumb enough to give up Mercer + prospects and picks, our road to the cup might get easier by staying put.

Still think we add Schmaltz and another LHD before all is said and done.

The one and only detail being reported is there is no extension as part of the deal.

Waddell knew Bo or Timo could have helped us win a cup. The cheap son of bitch still did nothing. We aren’t building a savings account with money. We are paying A plus players to help us reach our ultimate goal of the Cup. Fuq Waddell.

If there is no extension, then there is no way I’m paying what we were estimated for offer, much less what it was rumored we asked.

Timo is an RFA so he’ll be with the Devils for at least the remainder of this year and next year, I’d be shocked if they don’t give him is offer sheet.

They will have to shed some salary going into next season if they pick up that year at $10M.

As far as SJ asking for Necas I don't think that happened.  Jarvis yes, plus a 1st, 2nd, and Morrow.  I think the best we offered was a 1st, 2nd, and Morrow and we take on all Timo's salary.

It was too rich for the Canes and the whole "rental" or expensive 1.17 years if you can't sign Timo long term and throw in the fact the Canes were 3rd or 4th on his "list."

Best thing we can do now is welcome him to the east by laying the lumber to his ass and shutting him down when we play NJ.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
