The first domino has fallen. Derek Carr is a Saint. What's next?  I'm thinking Lamar Jackson becomes a Falcon. Atl will pay him big bucks and give up two firsts. One of which will be this years 8th overall.  The Ravens trade down to add another future 1st from the team moving up.

That leaves the Buccs with Kyle Trask and nobody else. They are the wildcard. Maybe they like him and are set except for a backup vet.

Then there is us.  We are far behind if LJ and DC show up.  We have Corrall and that's it.  Our option is either trade into top 5 or take a flyer on a Hooker or tanner McKee.  Ouch.  I like Hendon and McKee but that is a big drop off in talent from Carr and Jackson. Do we kick the can down the road and wait till 2024 for rookie? Do we resign Darnold and a Jacoby Brissett to fill the QB room?  Exciting off-season this year. I think we go all in on a guy.  I just wonder who it will be.

I think:

Falcons roll with Ridder this year, not wanting to pay the price to get a QB in the draft or Jackson. And I think it's a smart move for the longer term, even though he's not their answer, then they re-evaluate next offseason

Bucs bring Jameis back to compete with Trask, essentially just rebuilding and tanking for a QB next year

We trade up and get Stroud, hopefully solving our QB problem for the next decade +

All the way up to number 1?  Stround does look smooth.  High ceiling low floor. AR obviously the high ceiling guy but is gonna need time.  Levis also has a high ceiling but has bust potential. I like young myself but I get the size issues. That said a prime time player. So maybe that 3rd pick is our best bet and hope young or Stround are still on the board.  Dark horse candidate Jaren Hall.  Instead of going all in we add a young guy to compete with Corrall and develop the winner of that competition.  Or the Bailey Zappe small school type Tyson Bagent is also smooth like Stround.  No clue.  I have a feeling I'm gonna have to learn to love Will Levis even though he seems like a tool.

We could be back at the bottom again, regretting our owners decisions, again

But people talk about the Riech hiring like it automatically comes with superbowl rings

I get the optimism , I really do, but 25 years of mediocrity and failure has made me a realist

Realist or not I'm making no knee jerk reactions. Ever the optimist I think we have a winning staff and a decent roster. I just hope to improve that roster in FA and the upcoming draft enough to make believers of the "realist" amongst us.

Im looking at it like Reich has a little more sense than to do some of things the desperate qb people are saying he will do.Thats what I am trusting, the man's commonsense.

I get the Lamar to the Falcons rumors.

I still think there will be a sleeper team for him. Im hearing rumors Washington is the team to watch for Lamar.

Hurney's going to go down to Florida and sample some of Lamar's moms cooking and show the Ravens how to get a deal done.

If the Ravens got 2 first for Lamar, why would they trade down?  Would they not want to get AR-15 for that offense?

I am confused why a team at #8 with no QB would trade down.

In the scenario I envision AR is off as is Young and Stround. The team moving up is catching a edge, corner or WR.  The reason the Ravens move down is to gain yet another 1st.  A chance Levis or AR  is there and yes in that scenario they just draft the cheap replacement.  But I see a stockpiling of picks cause the Ravens are rebuilding if Lamar leaves.

I heard from someone on ESPN that said Schneider just may sign Lamar to a huge guaranteed contract to piss the other owners off.

As for the Falcons, they certainly have the cap space to sign him.

    • Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.  What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making  I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.   So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
    • I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.
    • I think the ‘issue’ here is that we had two guys that clashed for several reasons. In some ways they were different, but in other ways they had a lot in common, and sadly they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Sometimes when you have two people like that together they are either going to love or hate each other, and if it’s the latter, you need someone to mediate and hope the two individuals are capable of putting their differences aside for the common good. In this instance, they couldn’t find a way to move forwards together because I don’t think either guy wanted to play second fiddle to the other. This video basically said neither guy had the tools to bridge that gap and mend that fence, and perhaps also were unwilling to give an inch at that stage in their lives and careers. So a divorce, while unfortunate, was always likely. Do we win the Super Bowl with Smitty and Cam? Well, it’s one of life’s big what ifs for us Panthers fans.
