Yeah it's hard for me to keep up as well and it doesn't help that his guy is a scrub and I've never heard his name in my life. Ok not a scrub, but you know what I mean.

He played for our DC. That means a bit more than what fans of a team 2/3 the way across the country know about him.

I am certainly not mad about the signing as I don't know anything about him. I'm just pointing out that it's easy to be in the dark right now.

If this guy and Tuttle are our starting DEs, Bell is our staring S

On offense, Miles Sanders starts at RB, Bozeman starts at C, and Hurst starts at TE.

We have not added a WR or two, and Fitterer has already upgraded 6/22 positions.  Once he signs a WR and we draft a QB, in one year we will have upgraded 8/22 starting positions.   That is over 36% of the starters.  In addition, you put Burns and Chinn in position to be more effective.

5 sacks last year I'm not gonna complain about from an IDL. I know 3-4 is different but just sayin'. Plus he knows the D system and grew up a Panthers fan

Very serviceable player for good value. Here’s my rundown.

Williams: 4.5 sacks, 8 QB hits, 4 TFL, 37 total tackles, 15 games started

Derrick Brown: 1 sack, 12 QB hits, 5 TFL, 67 total tackles.

Brown was a stud last year and honestly Williams could easily take the next step in his career. Great value signing that will be a contributor at the minimum next year.

Seems out of place on this defense

Thought you were mistaken until I looked up his size. YGM is 6-5 265 …. Yikes perfect for 4-3 which we all know he has sucked. His size is to small for Edge in a 3-4 and to big for linebacker because he isn’t athletic enough.

Soooo  are we really rolling with Derrick Brown at NT or will we get another huge Hog Molly outside of McCall.

Derrick Brown at NT is such a waste isn’t it ?  Nose tackle or 1 techniques purpose is to eat up blocks. I guess he could rotate to nose on obvious passing downs but yikes it seems like we need another big true nose.

It's been confirmed Derrick Brown will be playing one of the DE spots

To be fair, I don’t think any WR he signs from FA will be an upgrade over DJ Moore. A bit nit picky I know, but I’d say 7/22 is more accurate.

It’s been stated over and over that Tuttle was signed as a NT.  Team sources confirmed it.  He played a ton of snaps at NT for the Saints last year.

    • This upper my already high opinion of Cam.
    • It's pro wrasslin. It's like trying to predict if roman rayons is going to drop the stone cold scorpion death lock slap chop on ravishing ric hogans under dlo
    • You won't believe this, but neither with the information at hand Nobody wants to believe me, but this thread and my issues with the team have absolutely nothing to do with T-Mac.  Do I wish he had more targets or some TD's already?  Of course, but he's 15th in the league in yards and on pace for 1,200 as a rookie, 2nd in the league in 20+ yard catches, 5th in the league in 1st down catches.   He's on pace to shatter Panthers rookie records and could potentially end up in contention for a Pro Bowl slot depending how the season shakes out. This thread was about our piss poor offensive play calling, as we're never going to be able to properly develop any of our young offensive weapons this year with how that's been going. If we're having the same issues as always, then yea, I'm puling for option 1 for my guy, because what really matters isn't changing. But if you tell me we had a great pass/run mix, keeping the defense off balance, getting chunk yards on a consistent basis, XL, Horn, Coker, Sanders, Evans, etc, make plays that show they're improving. Then yes, I'll take option B with T-Mac taking a backseat when that other stuff happens, because it's what is best for the future of this franchise.  This season isn't just about T-Mac, it's about improving ALL of our young weapons, but that won't happen with the way Canales has been calling games (and with how Bryce has played). And again, I'm not going to try and dig out months old posts, but I said this all offseason.  That actual standings wins and loses don't matter to me this year because I never believed we could be contenders.  Showing growth and improvement from the front office, to the coaches, to the players, was most important.
