Tepper redeems the franchise..

Yeah, got to pump the breaks on us suddenly being well run.

Tepper finally admitted to a mistake that there was no escaping from it being one.    And he pointlessly wasted 2023 because he still couldn’t admit it.  Water was clearly wet after 2022.

It’s good he took a 180 approach on the new staff but Tepper is still Tepper.

throwing cash at coaching names post Rhule doesn’t mean our front office suddenly becomes top end.   As of right now, we traded away CMC, DJ Moore and gave up a bunch to pick a QB….despite living in the top 10 in the Tepper era.

Nothing about Tepper says he is hands off or a sound leader of a NFL franchise yet.  Maybe he will grow into one.  That’s certainly the hope.  Maybe he will just continue to appear to be the primary problem.

anyone that has thrown Shade at Tepper at any point is crazy. it was clear after year 1 Rhule was the shits. Tepper is aggressive and that is what you want in an owner. his best trait though is he is not afraid to admit something didnt work any move away from it.

Aggressive wouldn’t be my #1 trait.   That can easily lead to just lots of dumb things.

Tepper couldn’t admit to the mistake after we became a laughing stock after 2022.  He wasted an entire season in 2023 because he couldn’t admit the obvious.

Lots of owners are hands on.

I’d say the majority are going to be in the mix for a #1 overall pick, especially one where they have up a lot of capital to get it.

I think he will have input and it will matter.  Which makes sense.

But he won’t be the one to make the pick and he has pretty much deferred to his coaches when the pick was made. If he didn’t then we would have Fields or Herbert since he wanted to move up for Herbert and wanted Fields as well.
But he let Rhule pick both times. No reason to believe he won’t do it again with the new coaches.

You rarely know the truth.  Sometimes it leaks out and sometimes that takes years.   Most owners I think are heavily involved in a #1 overall….especially one where you give up a ton for it. Which is rare.    Owners are the constant.   Which is why they rarely leave massive decisions completely to temp hires/new ones.

Going out and getting the #1 pick isn't going unappreciated here, what will become unappreciated is games. Everybody knew we were picking Cam. Let the community and player enjoy a coronation a celebration instead of needless nail-biting for the pleasure of exactly one.

I agree, but they need to hit on the QB selection.

I'm a lot less concerned with who they pick than I am who makes the pick.

As long as that decision is made by the football people, I'll be okay with it.

(even if it isn't my first choice)

I think what Tepper could change about his leadership especially as it relates to a public/private asset is more publicly deliberate moves. That's one thing we could appreciate about Mr Richardson you KNEW every season the direction the ship was going in a very deliberate and steady hand.

We knew JR was going to spend every OTHER year, thus the huddle coined "one step forward two steps back".

We knew what would happen if a player disgraced himself in public. We ALL knew what was next from JR.

What I would say to Tepper is be more deliberate with these moves so the fans can celebrate together WITH you instead of the corporate cloak and dagger, information, disinformation route that has lead to his prior disasters and misjudgements.

Come to the huddle big boy. We're here to help.

The man is human.  He came in, and like ANYONE that doesn't have experience,  he made some mistakes. He has also owned everyone of them.  So from my perspective he never really deserved the hate, other than holding onto Rhule too long.  His desire to build a winner has never waivered.

This definitely is the direction we as fans, have been wanting to see.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
