vs. Vanderbilt
When I mentioned that I felt that there were two games that Bryce Young had put out better tape than he did during the Texas game, one of those games that I had in mind was the one against Vanderbilt. After watching the rust get knocked off in game one against Utah State and the disappointment of game three against Louisiana-Monroe, the game four tape vs. Vandy is almost like Young is atoning for those earlier games and showing scouts more of what makes him QB1. The Commodores tried to use soft zone coverage early on and to say that Bryce carved them up is an understatement. The deep ball was finding it's mark and everything looked like it was a full go. If you can't get passed the, "Well... it's Vandy" part, don't forget that they were 3-1 at this point and would later go on to defeat both Will Levis and Anthony Richardson. The play queued up below shows all of it on display: the arm strength, the accuracy, and how he calmly moves through his progressions.

I mean Richardson threw for over 300 yards and 3 TDs whilst surrounded by terrible football players.

I don't know why you bring him up in this argument. His team gave up 31 points to Vandy, Young's gave up 3.

I said white flag! Your Brady video showed me the light.

He tried to sweep his legs and couldn't, the same tackle Bryce immediately went down on in the video a couple pages back.

You think you're clowning ripp, but you're clowning yourself.

Im just a fan of football bro. Im 33 with my own family. Hating on players does nothing for me in life.

Let them earn your respect. More power to you!

I'm a football fan to and I am 59 with a family. So what did anything you said have any relevance to how people feel about certain players. It is not your choice to say who needs to show support. It is a persons choice to show support when they are ready to. And by the way please show me where I sad I hated any player. Please enlighten me. 🙄

Support and respect is earned not just given.

Nick Young Wtf GIF

So are you just crotchety towards everyone until they give you a reason to respect them?

I just ask because respect is a default setting for me, with anyone I meet, until they give me a reason to treat them otherwise.

Support is a default setting for any new panther player, unless they were on a rival/did something heinous or were a dick to the Panthers that makes me take time to warm up to them (a la Roman Harper).

I genuinely don't understand the "earn my support" mentality toward a rookie that we draft. I can understand being hesitant with a vet player/coach/gm/owner, but not a kid who has done nothing yet and didn't even have a say in where he was drafted.

    • Yep he made the comment " I dont know what they were doing out there at that point" in the press conference. Let's be real they all got paid but they also know his system suppresses there offensive potential.
    • Yup the casuals on Facebook ive gotten 85 laughing or angry emojis so far for pointing it out.  The amount of them throwing a fit because the canes were booed is insane
    • Why are you so fixated on yards? Even if yards were a good judge of QB play, his low yardage totals in some of those games were partly a function of drops (looking at you Xavier Leggette…).  I’m not advocating that Bryce was elite for the last half of last year, but the eye test certainly supported high level QB play for large stretches. He made a lot of high difficulty, put it on the money/drop in the bucket throws. He converted on 3rd and 4th down, kept drives moving, and put the team in position to win games. And it’s not on him that the defense blew it late after he led game tying drives, Leggette dropped a game winning TD, or Chuba fumbled the ball in OT. We could have finished the season close to .500 with wins against 3 playoff teams including KC and Philly during that stretch largely due to Bryce’s play.    Has he sustained this level of play long enough to deserve an higher ranking? No. But for judging based in that stretch alone, he would. But whether he can perform more consistently at that level or build on that, and thus earns a higher ranking, remains to be seen.
