I could see AR being the best of the bunch in a few years.

That's part of the equation when looking at these guys. If each were viewed as reaching 90% of your expectations how long do you see that career lasting? Do you see that guy on your team for 10 to 15 years? There's a lot to digest after the data is gone over and over again.  I bet the lights have been on 24/7 at BOA.

Agreed. Taking a QB will never just be about taking a guy that can play tomorrow, you also take the guy that projects to ascend for the next 10 years and you believe can be coached up.

Matt Waldman has a good scouting breakdown on Richardson:

https://www.footballguys.com/article/2023-anthony-richardson-rsp-sample-scouting-report

Says his accuracy issues aren't as bad as people think. in fact he throws more downfield than anyone, and throws a consistent catchable ball.

I am legitimately warming up to Richardson at 1.

Welcome to the family. I do have a question: I had read the Texans canceled their draft visit for AR, does anyone know if that’s true and why they did?

And the thing is hes so young. I think hes 20 right now? he wont turn 21 until after the draft.... He's still very much growing... All of these guys have ups and down and are a gamble. I'm a betting man I go with AR15... in the second tound try to land washington or Gibbs and call it a night look towards what could be a bright future.

Gibbs is a funny one - he was unbelievable for GT and great for Alabama... except good lord he has no idea about blocking assignments.

To me it looks like they may have made a deal. What you pointed out is the only explanation for those actions.

Understood. I don’t know if the Texans canceling is true, I haven’t seen it reported by anyone else. It’s just odd how there is no talks about it, it’s all young, so it makes me think it will be Young.

prayer GIF

Don't let them pick the smallest QB to enter the league, they know not the foolishness and folly that will bring....and the inevitable hindsight wisdom "everyone said he was too small, why did you do that?!'

Well because the Zach Wilsonstans and the Kyler club said he was the best smallest there ever was.

Wait, so a guy who is better right now, will end up being worse than a guy not as good right now 10 years later with the same coaches (to coach them up) around them?

One of the stupidest takes I've ever seen on this board.

Newton was a run-first QB in college. That carried over to the NFL.

Richardson looks to pass first.

Cam was also a player who could carry a team which also carried over to the NFL..

Richardson hasn’t shown that at any level of football..

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
