Who should start at QB for 2023

We draft a rookie, first overall, and we play them. No stupid QB competition like when Lawrence had to battle Minshew and they stole reps from each other. No stupid starting Dalton over Fields and stealing reps with the im first team away from your rookie.

We are drafting them to play right away. They will play right away.

He wasn’t the first overall pick.

He should have been.

He is probably the best qb drafted in the last 20 years, probably better than Stroud or Young and was a top 10 pick. And didn't start for a year.

If the coach believes he is ready, so be it. If it takes a few gamed, or evena full season, that is ok as long as he eventually becomes a good QB.

There was no rush to start Mahomes because they were 12-4 in the previous season with Alex Smith, and started off 5-0 and ended up winning the division/making the playoffs his rookie year. He may have been ready to play, but they had the luxury of waiting since the team around him was good and Smith could game manage well enough. I don’t see that situation being the same here.

Maybe, but the main concern imo should be to start the rookie when he is mentally ready.  If the coach decides that is the first game, so be it. But him being the first overall draft pick shouldn't matter. If having him him carry a clipboard for a few games is best for his longterm development, then that is ok

If the rookie can’t start the season we drafted the wrong rookie.

There's quite a bit of truth to this. It's not like our vet QB or the third stringer we are trying to trade have any experience in this coach's system yet either.

Although, I really do want to see them put Matt Corral out there during the pre-season and give him some reps with the first team in a game. Maybe he'll be good, maybe he won't, but we'd be doing the kid a solid either way and help him to find a home. This situation wasn't his fault at all.

And who knows? Maybe if he starts as a rookie they win that Super Bowl. There’s been plenty of guys like Manning and Aikman who took bumps early and looked bad and ended up playing great. I’m a believer in live experience.

This is more than reasonable, but this place will shout “bust” if the rookie doesn’t start right away, and perform immediately like an elite QB.

It is always entertaining.

    • Oh I was.  But we still had great players.
    • You keep AT unless he WANTS to get traded to a contender during the season.  He's valuable, TET, XL, and Coker need to learn how to be PROFESSIONALS on game day, practice, and the off-season.  That's what you get from AT.  ADDITIONALLY, he is clutch.  He is steady.  At is that savvy vet who will always flash. I really think they keep 7 WR's if Brycen can operate on special teams.  Week 1 you may see us heavy on WR and OL because of the massive amount of injuries across the league.  Renfrow may even be cool starting on the PS since he lives close and wouldn't need to uproot his family.  You can still make nearly 400K as a vested veteran on an NFL practice squad.  You see more veterans hanging around since the age limit was lifted. I think the 1st 53 and PS looks like so...... Offense: (25) QB (2) Young / Dalton RB (3) Chuba/Rico/Etienee WR (7) T-Mac/XL/AT/Coaker/Renfrow/JHjr/Brycen TE (3) Tremble/Sanders/Evans OL (10) Icky/Lewis/Corbett/Hunt/Moten/Brady/Mayes/Yosh/Zavala/Kingston Defense: (25) DL: (6) Brown/Robinson/Turk/Bobby B/Cam Jackson/Sam Roberts OLB: (5) Wonnom/PJ2/NicSic/Princely/Incoon ILB: (5) Rozeboom/TW/Windmon/Cherelus/Bam CB: (5) Horn/MJ/CSW/Thorton/Evans S: (4) Tre'Mo/Ransom/Demani/Scott Specialists: (3) JJ/Fitz/Martin Last spot: Right now I have it as a toss up between DJ Johnson and Bam.  Until NicSic can come back we need an extra edge.  Do we utilize TW more as a blitzer from the middle to keep Bam safe?  I'm not worried about DJJ getting picked up from another team, a little more concerned with Bam. Practice Squad: DavidMoore/JamesMitchell/JacolbyGeorge/Tuttle/Crumdley/Ray/DJJohnson/Kantra/Carter/Blacksheer/ Wright/KrysBarnes/MichaelReid/Safety pick up/RB pick up/QB pick up
