Canes vs Panthers Eastern Conf Finals Game 1 Thursday 8pm

We got a lot of chances last night. I will say for the part I watched we were the better team 5v5. We had them clogged up and nowhere to go. A few mistakes cost us winning the game in regulation. We have to dial in our shot so we don’t just keep finding the post.

I think that waxed and waned. Some periods they definitely dominated us on the 5x5 but I think our peak performance in 5x5 was better than theirs.

We just needed them to go in and that didn't happen.

And, Freddie played pretty well but one of those goals was just flat out an easy one. He can't make those mistakes. That goes for this series or the next(hopefully). Every round the intensity ramps up and the margin for error gets smaller.

I’ve said this several times, you can’t win the playoffs with just two goals a game, even with our defense, have to get 3+. Canes did that against the devils but this is a tougher challenge. I really believe we can score more and the next game will have to show it.

Freddie stopped 57 out of 60 shots, that’s an outstanding .950 save percentage. If your asking for more than that your trying to put it all on one man.

It’s one game where we hit a million goal posts. We are going to be fine.

  • we looked like the lesser team the majority of the game and could only score on PPs
  • we also got a lot of breaks go our way as well, we were VERY lucky for it to go as many rounds as it did
  • we lost after the game went to 2 am, which is really bad for morale and our energy
  • florida beat an all time great team in Boston, they are really good team and the best team left we could have faced
  • we are down early and might have gotten beat so bad we lose twice and end up losing the series because of it

it's not over but I'm not going to pretend it's not looking good

We totally dominated the third period with 14 SOG to the panthers 2. If we play our game all three periods we have a chance to win a game. Yes we need to score 5 on 5 but good to see our PP working.

We beat Florida last game of the season (yes Lyon in net) to stay ahead of the Devils so it’s not like they’re suddenly unbeatable.

Agree it’s a tough road ahead but we knew it would be. Let’s see what Saturday brings.

Nah. It’s one game. We have kicked ass for the majority of the playoffs. I’m sure you were doom and gloom with the devils beat us 8-4 that one game. You are flat out crazy to say “I’m not going to pretend it doesn’t look good”

    • Another thread where the Huddle melts down over a Bryce comment.  "Conversations" and "Bryce Young has been signed to a new long-term contract" are still far away from being the gospel.  For a fanbase that has watched two top-3 drafted QBs come here, and us move on, only to see them elevate their play elsewhere, I find it comical. Bryce is flawed but this org is damned if you do and damned if you don't with BY9.  Why would our GM and HC say anything other than supportive about their QB1. Yes, he's extended, but I truly do not think if he goes out and has a repeat of the previous seasons, that he is here beyond 2027. They're giving him every opportunity and surrounding him with a ridiculous amount of assets on both sides of the ball. If he continues to pitch 110 yd/ game and cough up the ball while everyone else is busting their ass, no way Dan keeps him beyond the extension.
    • Ooof, I was not a Proctor fan. I agree w/ a lot of smarter folks than me that he's more of a guard and think his weight fluctuation is going to be something to navigate. I liked Lomu a lot, but figured there would be more talented guys there at 19. I also wasn't big on bringing in a TE via the draft. If it's not a vet (Njoku) or a trade for Mayer or Kmet, I'd just as soon see what the youngsters have. No need cluttering the room with more of the same.
    • Sam Darnold & Bryce Young are two very different Qbs ..just saying the last 25 years approximately 2/3 of ALL  first round Qb's  in the NFL were or are bust.so for everyone who makes it like a Sam Darnold you have two that don't make it or are a bust
