Evero's defense will be fast and aggressive.

I haven't heard many folks that think the transition will be difficult. We brought in folks up front who have played in a 3-4 and guys like Shaq have played in one under Rivera.  We do have the personnel to run it. The bigger issue is how comfortable the players are running it and can they play without overthinking things.

There will be a transition. Make no mistake about that. We have 1's who can go, but we lack depth.

Not sure why you feel there will be a transition? He was at Denver for only 1 year, and I've heard they did quite well.

As for depth? Too early to tell. The only real worry is at the starting CB position. Other than that, there are players all over that D that are capable.

We have 2 very good Safeties. Good LBs, and talent on the line. No need to worry about all that other stuff the first week in July.

I believe the entire key to our defense will be how the backend performs.  If Horn and Jackson stay healthy, I think this defense could be very special.  We have many good players up front.

The keys are Jackson and Horn and that is my worry.  Neither seem to be able to stay healthy.  Our only other hope is that others on the roster step up in a big way.

However, if they do stay healthy Evero will be able to do many exciting things with our defense.  He's a proved DC that can lead a top 10 defense.  No reason we shouldn't be inside the top 10.

Let's go.

Assuming Jackson's achilles doesn't slow him down.  The D looked downright putrid at times last year.  I'm not sure we invested enough in it in this off season.

One thing I can confidently say is if our CBs on the outside won't be able to handle the deep ball 1 on 1  Evero will put a FREAKN SAFETY OVER TOP!!!!

So that in itself will be a major upgrade over Snowmans weak ass play calling.

I'm personally pumped to see what he can get out of this defense

Reports were that multiple players had career years for Denver in Evero's first year in his new system. Apparently he makes the transition easy and knows how to maximize each players talent.  If he does the same thing here this will be a top 5 defense. Apparently he is good at developing depth guys into decent starters as well.

If that happens I really hope we have another guy lined up for a DC job. If he has another year like Denver had on defense, he will be gone in one or two cycles.

Hoping for 2 for our OC and DC so we can get those extra draft picks.

Of course if they are both doing well and want to stick around then that is cool too.

As long as it doesn't resemble anything he did for the Broncos in losing all those leads and 4Q game leading drives from Wilson. His defense gave up 5 4Q leads and failed to stop teams in all 3 OT games. He struggled against the Bucs, Raiders, and Panthers - Mayfield, Carr, and Darnold.

Inexperienced DC. Inexperienced QB. Average play caller in Frank Reich.

Denver had been running a base 3-4 for years under Fangio, who is no defensive slouch himself and whose defenses finished 10, 25, and 3 in pts allowed since 2019. This is an entirely different situation schematically, let alone the personnel aspect, with Evero having retained a lot of the prior defense when he took over.

"We’ll be 3-4 in our base defense,” Evero confirmed during his introductory press conference on Tuesday. “We’ll play a variety of sub packages. There will be a lot of carryover from what these guys did last year …. I think the players will be familiar with a lot of what we’re going to present to them. We’re going to always start players first and then move into the scheme.”

There will absolutely be growing pains this year.

Because Denver was already running a 3-4 when Evero arrived.  We were a 4-3.

No doubt. He will be a candidate for HC and we better have someone in the wings learning the system.

Our only hope to delay it is 1) There are no good looking HC openings next year and 2) Tepper throws money like Detroit did with Ben Johnson.

Evero is already making a lot. Money won't be why he jumps, it will be to be a HC. Then again being DC on this staff might be better than HC of some teams.

    • LOL... Yet again proving you can't look below anything than what you see on the surface Mock drafts ARE NOT draft grades They are what people think will happen.  They are mocking teams taking QB's in the top 5 of the draft because that's just historically how drafts go regardless of the grades on the QBs.  Almost every draft expert, even those mocking QB's going high, have said time and time again that none of these QB's actually grade out as those type of picks. This is again, where I say you don't like to actually read what I have to say, because I already explained it. 2022 the exact same thing happened, mock drafts had guys like Pickett and Willis going in the Top 5 because that's just what teams usually do, but GM's listened to their prospect grades and knew they weren't worth taking that high, so they didn't. It's not to say QB's won't go that high this year, but it's to say that they aren't graded out as elite QB prospects.  Mock drafts
    • Have you seen the mock drafts lately?   Most of them have us taking a QB. Just because you aren't high on these QBs doesn't mean the Panthers or other teams aren't.   If you want me to be real I just think you a Tmac homer and all you care about is us drafting him. It's why you get so defensive when people mention other prospects.   Be open to other people's ideas. Nobody in this thread is saying anything bad about your boy Tmac.
    • Oh good lord Interest doesn't mean interest in making a bad trade to take the player, that's why I had such a long post, to accurately describe why those are two different things, but you don't like to listen to that stuff.  Being interested in a player doesn't live in a vacuum. It's very simple... there isn't a #1 draft pick type of grade on any of these QB's, if there was, we'd just take them.  You can't bluff a pick everyone knows you won't make, and trying to trade the pick is the CLEAR signal that you're not taking the QB. Just because the Raiders would have interest, doesn't mean they're going to bail us out of a situation we don't want to be in, they'd be smart about it and just sit put, let us take a non QB as we'd be telling the world we're not taking one just by trying to trade the pick, and then they'd take him at #2 (either with their own pick or by trading less to get that one). Oh, and your point of "if nobody is willing to make the trade, you obviously just take the best QB" is quite literally the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. If nobody is willing to trade up to take the QB, then it's OBVIOUS that the QB isn't worth taking with that pick, so OBVIOUSLY taking the best QB there is just OBVIOUSLY stupid and a bad pick. The moral of it is if there is a QB worth taking, we're taking them and not making the trade.  If there isn't a QB worth taking there, nobody is trading up to #1 to take one, we just showed the NFL how bad of an idea that is 2 years ago, it's really not hard to see. You keep making up this mythical situation where there is a QB who has shown to be worth trading up to #1 for and we'll be able to leverage that into a trade.  But we're the most QB needy team in the league, if we end up with the #1 pick, either we are taking a QB #1 or no QB is going #1 unless we get VERY lucky and two teams in the Top 5 fall in love with one prospect and we can play them off each other and fleece one of them. But again, I can't see that happening, as if there was a QB worthy of that, we're just taking him ourselves.
