The Hall of Fame Game (Preseason One) will be played tonight between the Jets and the Browns.

It's not Panthers football, it's not regular season football, it probably won't even be good football, but it is NFL football...and I'm ready for it.

The last few seasons left a really bad taste in my mouth, one that made it very tough to get excited for the start of the next season. But the changes made to the team this past offseason have excised those bad feelings.

My expectations for this year aren't super high, but getting better and looking like an actual professional football team would be a huge improvement over the most recent whatever you want to call it. Anything beyond that is gravy.

Maybe I'm just ready to be hurt again like Steve Carell, but I'm genuinely hyped up and anxious to get things started.

I haven't been able to say that for a few years now.

Addition by subtraction. And we significantly added by subtracting Rhule. Our team played better once he was gone, I have a lot of confidence in our new staff this year. I honestly expect a .500 season or better and I don't think that's unrealistic!

This season is about a complete restart. We have a new coaching staff and a shiny new #1 overall pick QB. I think most fans just want to get reassured that it looks like we've chosen well on both fronts and have reason for hope for the future. It's less about the win/loss record for me. We were all excited as hell about the future after Cam's rookie season despite losing a lot of games because we competed and we saw there was a lot of hope for the future. I wanna feel like that again. Anything more than that in terms of wins on the field would just be a very welcome bonus for me.

I want to see more wins than last year...if not, I will be concerned.

      Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.

      I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.

      Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
