Bryce has the fewest open windows in the league, is the most accurate throwing with an open window

It also doesn't include YPA, which Bryce is averaging 4.2 yards so without more data you could argue he's been accurate on throwing to wide open check downs. If they made a similar chart of pass attempts 10+ yards this would look completely different

Who's getting open, where on the field they're getting open, how far downfield they are, whether the passers were caught and how many yards were gained after the catch and any number of other things you could throw in would pretty much all be receiver metrics.

As a quarterback measure though, what it tells us is that when they're open, he's getting then the ball in a spot where they can catch it.

They didn't include the raw numbers (would have been nice if they had) but based on the percentage calculation, there would have to have been at least five since a score of 80% would mean a factor of four out of five at the very least.

NFL.com has Young on record as having thrown a total of 71 passes in the first two games. And while I know our receivers don't seem to be doing great job of getting open, I'm going to guess there have been more than five open windows out of that total.

I appreciate how you take a loose logical conclusion to a more specific conclusion, truly I do.  I could have a beer with you.

I also think the spirit of my comment holds up, no matter how small it actually is, 2, 5, 10, hell even 20…./it’s a small sample size.  You can’t use it defend BY anymore than a two game sample can indict him.

Well mathematically, it could be anywhere from 4 out of 5 to 56 out of 70.

Having watched the games though, I'm also inclined to think the total number of open windows is a relatively low figure.

It's pretty obvious there are scheme issues(and execution issues, to be fair).

We are two weeks into some obvious announcer comments about it.

Yeah I have a feeling the next all 22 breakdowns probably released tmrw will not be pretty. Maybe the Saints D was really that good but the tv playback with the ability to pause and rewind already isn't good

And that’s all you can ask of your QB. Can’t believe how many people here are rooting for him to fail.

Are all wtf throws

Do yourself a favor and go cheer for another team. Bryce isn’t going anywhere so you’re going to have to suck your bias up or move on.

Please please don’t let me catch your ass celebrating when Bryce wins here.

I’ll never root for our guys to fail. But not being sold on him and rooting to fail aren’t the same thing. I mean I guess I could just not be critical and only post when I’m impressed?

Even the biggest Bryce stan (possibly me?) is fighting off the thoughts of “did we make a mistake?”

The early returns don’t look great, but the sample size is way too small right now. I do also think the Saints defense just outright beat us schematically.

I am hopeful we start to see a different version of this offense either right at the bye week or shortly after, because if not - oh wee mayne

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
