Who are Tua and Lawrence throwing to again?

For that matter, when did not throwing to your first read become a bad thing? Sometimes your first read isn't open.

Im not saying not throwing to your first read is a bad thing, Im saying your conclusion of "Despite getting pressured heavily, Young is still managing to make his reads " is wrong.  Just because he isnt throwing to his first read, doesnt mean he's making his reads properly, and he's getting pressured because he is holding onto the ball too long.

Im not trying to say its his fault, Im saying none of these graphs are showing its not his fault.

Yea... I hate this argument regardless of the player/position.

The "well they did this against NFL level players in the SEC" is the most flawed argument ever.

The SEC had 62 players drafted this year.  From that, 20 of them came from Alabama and Georgia (10 each) with another 12 coming from Florida and LSU (6 each), with Auburn, Tennessee, and South Carolina having 5 each.

I'm not going to go through each team and count out how many players were defensive, but obviously you can assume about half the players drafted were on offense, give or take.  Then consider that there are a few more players who aren't NFL draft eligible yet and are already that good, plus others who will be good enough in a few years but aren't there yet.

So realistically, outside of 2 or maybe a 3rd team in the SEC each season, most teams have either none or at most 1-3 NFL quality level players on their defense in a given season, and even then, it's what, maybe a 25% chance that they're even a player who would be a pass rusher?  (when talking about Bryce "escaping tackles from NFL level players in college")

Yes, the SEC is by far and away the best conference in college football and yes, it prepares you for the NFL better than others.

But the "they did this against NFL level players in the SEC" is just a fallacy as they really aren't performing against NFL level players most of the time, just really good college players.

His college offensive line was bigger than ours.

I just want somebody to explain to me why Bryce is struggling so much where CJ Stroud is doing great?

CJ has a second year running back, his entire offensive line is hurt, a defensive minded head coach, the run game is averaging 2.5 yards a carry, his top 3 receivers are a third year player who got 400 yards last year, 67 year old Robert Woods who got 500 yards last year, and a 165 pound rookie named Tank Dell drafted in the third round. All three are over 100 yards now. 12 different players have caught a pass in two games and 7 of them are averaging 10+ yards a catch.

We have two guys with 9+ yards per catch, we have a second round rookie wr who is physically more imposing than Dell, we have our own old guy in Adam T and we average 5.0 yards per carry… Nobody was supposed to be more pro ready than Bryce.

Their team is also winless.

The opposing defenses are getting into our backfield on a pretty consistent basis.  Plus the receivers not getting open.

Plus we have a rookie at QB.

Jesus people crying about him not having some elite processing mind. He has been already using audibles and changing plays. Some of the great cerebral QBs struggled early in their rookie years. Hell Rodgers and Mahomes didn’t even play, Manning set the record for picks, and Brees played like 1 game later in the season. Is it frustrating to watch and disappointing as a fan? Absolutely! However saying all the traits he has that scouts love are nonexistent is beyond premature.

A couple of things can be true:

- All the talk about Bryce’s super ability to process etc. didn’t account for time to acclimate to the NFL, and set up unreasonable expectations.

- However, Bryce’s start has been disappointing, no matter the circumstances. If you say you aren’t a bit disappointed you are not being honest.

- Stroud and Richardson has had way more wow plays and produced more than Young.

- However, early rookie year production and long term success has little correlation, hence it is way too early to draw any conclusions. So it is ok if people don’t panic, but if you want to, go ahead.

- We will improve our WRs next year, you just can’t do it all in year one. Just like all other teams drafting QBs high.

But yes, underwhelming start to the season without a doubt.

Gotta hone in on this a little bit more because it needs way more attention than a quick little blurb. This aspect was pumped up big time by our supposed biggest decision makers and so far it's looking poor at best. Bryce Young is going to get someone fired (deservedly so) if he can't turn things around. Luckily there's 15 more games. But unfortunately there's also two ways those games can go. I'm hoping for not more of the same. We'll see.

We heard a lot of things during camp about Bryce being mobile, throwing off platform, using multiple arm angles and throwing guys open when they are covered. That hasn’t been the case to start the season.

I am not an expert, but I’m of the belief that maybe he is being over coached at the moment and given too much to think about instead of letting him play more freely.

I know soft defense and all, but you saw it on that last touchdown play monday night. Like, he played loose because it didn't matter and pulled out a touchdown in the chaos that was that play. We need more of that.
