Ive said for months 2024 is the season, now with these holes and these moves that havent panned out, man I just dont know.   All of a sudden to me this is becoming a tear it to the studs rebuild.  We got a lot of guys due some big money and a bunch of holes all around

Nothing we can do but sit back and see how it unfolds.  Hopefully Young and the offense will look a lot better in the second half of the season and give us some optimism going into 24 with some cap space to spend.  I do think we have too many holes to pay Burns.  He will probably get flipped if we keep sucking and we will have a first plus some in return.  Not the Rams offer, but that's a sunk cost.

I'm fairly certain they stated we would start off slow, but see improvements towards the end of the year.   That was after the preseason.  Remember @CamWhoaaCam got mad and you were telling him that our staff is saying what you were saying all offseason?  As for the offseason quotes, I wouldn't put too much weight into any of that.

I didn't get mad.lol

I already admitted he was right btw.

One thing about me if im wrong I will openly admit it. I even apologized to him personally.

Not like MAD mad, but I guess I should have used the word annoyed or frustrated at Reich for basically saying we aren't a playoff team before the season started.  I wasn't calling you out, just reminding him of a conversation where our coach said it was going to start off rough this year.

Yeah annoyed is a better word. I rarely get mad anymore at Panthers football. Tepper has shown me he's not capable of making the right hires. It is what it is.

While we are on the topic of me being wrong, I must admit Bryce Young also doesn't look that great so far. Hopefully he turns it around as the season goes.

Yup. If he's doing that well, let Bryce spend a season taking mental reps. Rodgers rode the bench for 3 years. Worked out pretty well for him, and the team.

Rodgers wasn't a #1 overall pick that was acquired through trading away a bunch of assets.

Trading up to 1 to take your guy and letting him sit for a year is asinine...unless he's a generational talent.... but then you wouldn't need to bench him for a year.  At that point you might as well just suck for another year and potentially take someone else at the top of the next draft.

This screams of a GM realizing he needs to make some splashy moves because he no longer has a lame duck coach to pin the troubles on and he needs to show some results ASAP, and I guess he suckered Frank to go along with his plan? I mean unless we have officially become the Browns Frank would have surely gotten more than one year to show some progress on the rebuild without trading away everything to take Bryce, but I'm not so sure Fitz would have the same leeway at this point.

Hey guys, remember the part where I was called insane and dumb for speculating that this was a soft benching and the staff using the phantom injury to save face and if Bryce still ended up playing my theory fell apart?  What a crazy conspiracy, right?

OR maybe he rolled his damn ankle and we don't need him to play through an injury that can get worse because we aren't making a playoff run this year.  Sometimes the simplest answer is the right now.

Maybe…

HC can’t tell you the play…which is ok

But he also can’t tell you what type of injury. High ankle anything….which is okay.

But he also had Bryce up on his ankle yesterday despite labeling him a DNP.  And if you starting QB is hurt and you wanted to get him healthy to play that is odd….which is okay.

And they had Bryce hoofing it all over BOA today,  fat dudes and punters even take carts to the field.  Bryce hoofing it.   Injured QB? Doesn’t seem like they are treating it as a big deal.  Or trying to get him off it.

There was already an argument they were on a quick path to ruining his development after 2 weeks.  Pumping the breaks with no injury was already the path they were looking down.  The O to date hasn’t been enough to support developing a rookie QB.   If you are legitimately a Bryce fan and want him to develop….you should take issue with what this team has done around him.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
