Panthers GMs Draft History After Round 1 (Analysis)

We all know Hurney was good for round 1 on picks.. and garbage after that!! And we had great picks as everyone has mentioned Tepper is the issue!! At least Richardson had the balls to hire a team to consult for him on football!! It’s obvious Tepper needs to do the same!! One thing that could save this team is make Reich give up play calling for the offense

So, this isn't accounting for traded picks? Gettleman would trade up every year, to the point of giving the Panthers the fewest picks in the league during his time here. Fitterer has been even worse trading away picks. Hurney, I think, ended up with a net positive number of picks from some trade backs and trading players like Kelvin Benjamin.

Im still in the firm spot of herniay was the worst and its sorta telling seeing the majority of the huddle feels that now fitterererer.

I was there for hernaiy and he still sinks more than fitterererer.

The numbers tell a different story. So do the number of wins. In that category Fitterer is by FAR the worst.

Nipple Shorts was mah man.  Not only does he have a very good grade in your system, but he also had a good eye for undrafted free agents (Andrew Norwell being the best example) which I believe is not factored in your system.

One of the primary reasons Gettleman has a bad reputation with many Panther fans is because #89 chose to make him Public Enemy #1 and #89’s mindless drones walked behind him in lock-step, assaulting Gettleman’s reputation from his blind-side so to speak.

What exactly are you basing the emphasis on the busts? What metric? Because it's its your opinion I don't think that's how it works. Genuine question. I am aware of Fitterer and his poo GM'ing. But I'd like to know the quantifiers.

Mostly just my opinion, but I tried to be as broad as possible so the results would be as objective as possible.

Basically the formula I used was:

PLUS STARTERS: Good, great, or elite players who became key starters for us.

SOLID PLAYERS: Decent players who were starters for an extended period of time or played key roles for us.

CONTRIBUTORS : Players who were lower-level starters or who provided solid depth/special teams value.

BUST/MISSES : Players who never contributed much of anything or anything at all.

No pick after round 3 should be considered a bust or miss.  Also leaving out round 1 just to try to make Gettleman look decent is hilarious

1) I agree nobody after the 3rd round should be considered a bust, which is why I called that category "Busts/Misses." You can still miss on a pick without the player being a bust.

2) The point of this was to analyze the GMs, not make one look better. Personally I'm not a Gettleman fan, but he was the best of the three in terms of drafting after the 1st round. Unfortunately he's also the best at missing in the 1st round.

He's also the worst in terms of overall team building and management of the roster, IMO.

Glad the huddle seems to be on the same page as I was when Rhule was fired that Fit is not a real GM and should’ve gone with him. Mr. Scott is probably still clinging on as he argued to he was blue in the face how Fit was a top candidate completely qualified.

Newsflash (for some) it wasn’t just Rhule. Fit is utter trash.

Scot is still lurking here but hasn’t posted in awhile because he is physically incapable of admitting he’s wrong. He hates Marty Hurney for some reason and thinks the “jury is still out on Fitterer” despite the fact he is already the worst GM in team history and the team has never been this bad for this long of a stretch before.

    • He's not going to get fired, if anything happens and it's mostly a certainity at this point, he will be allowed to resign or move into a different role with the program.
    • Don't think it hurts that much. IMO, not much of a dropoff from somebody like Gipson compared to Rozeboom. Regardless, I still think we are looking at an ILB in the first 3 rounds. There are quite a few interesting prospects between Rodriguez, Golday, and Hill Jr. that would be good 2nd round picks if they make it to us (Rodriguez might be a stretch since it seems like teams are falling in love with him). Kyle Louis and Lawson are worth a look also in the 3rd
    • I think that is the first goal of pretty much every team. No one seeks to make it in via WC, in August anyway. You take what you can get, but you always set out to win your division.  People look around at their division foes and say okay we can probably expect strong rushing attacks. So we’ll need a stout run D. Mandatory. Etc. We drafted TD basically to spy on Vick. We could do nothing with him up until then. It kind of helped but they were still putting it on us too often for a while. You have to match up to your division.
