Scariest movie of all time?

By that definition? Requiem for a Dream. Nope. Fug that. Never again.

I think for me a lot depends on the age. I can watch pretty much all the scary movies as an adult.

For some reason the scariest movies I have watched came during my teenager years. I use to think Jeepers Creepers was really scary as a teen, now as an adult I can watch that movie every day.

Still waiting on a modern movie that will shake me to the core. I had high hopes for "The Exorcist Believer" but im looking at the reviews and most seem to say it wasn't that scary.

What movie stuck with you for a while that you were legit afraid to watch again?

I know it's not the game, but honestly, the only stuff I can never watch again is the anxiety inducing stuff that provokes real life stress in me while I watch it. Stuff like Marriage Story or Whiplash.

Scary, violent, upsetting stuff doesn't bother me to the point that I can't watch it again, unless it's just utterly profane and pointless. Stuff like Like Saw II. I love to be shocked in a movie, and will totally watch again. I'd even watch Hostel again... and I have.

But here's one that I know has wrecked several people I watch movies with:

Misery

It's October, only right we discuss the scariest movie we ever seen. Mine is pretty easy "The Exorcist" 1973 version. Legit took me a full week to get over that movie. I was a teenager when I first watched it. Still till this day the scariest movie I ever seen.

THE EXORCIST (1973) FIRST BRITISH RELEASE POSTER, 1974, SIGNED BY WILLIAM FRIEDKIN | Original Film Posters Online | 2020 | Sotheby's

I watched this as a kid and no movie has come remotely close to scaring more.  On first watch this one is terrifying.

Second those who mentioned The Witch.  I watched a movie called Terrifer recently that I liked…gory as hell

I actually liked the movies Sinister and Mama.  Underrated IMO

Another gems is Tumbbad https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8239946/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_5_nm_3_q_tuumbad

Memories of Murder is strange but crazy entertaining

As a horror fan for fifty years, the one thing I can definitively say I absolutely will never watch again is an episode of The Twilight Zone called "It's a Good Life".

That’s a good one…TZ is classic

The hitchhiker and The Doll are a few of my favs

Yeah, it's been nearly 25 years and that one still sticks with me. Like damn, my overall faith in humanity is already low enough. I don't need that poo in my life. 😂

i saw someone once list that as one of those movies that you HAVE to see.

no. no you don't.
