Who is shading Cam? Asking people why they were so adamantly supportive of Cam through some below average performances and losing seasons but are quick to poo on Bryce is a valid question and a weird juxtaposition. If you can’t answer the question, then you are either being intentionally dense or can’t see the irony.

Because people actually saw cams potential In his first few games. He lit the fan base up and was super charismatic. Bryce young not so much..😑

Bryce hangs in there. Look when he starts his throw. He completes this ball to Thielen who you can see just about to come across the logo. Watch his feet too

Nah I’m told Pickles made these throws all the time…

Seriously, that’s an A+ throw. “What does Bryce do well?” Seems like accuracy and anticipation? He threw that between 3 guys before AT was even close to being open.

Right. And what supporting cast did Cam have his rookie season? Deangelo Williams, J-Stew, Steve Smith, Olsen, a good offensive line with a stalwart at LT in Gross, and most importantly: an innovative and competent OC in Chud. Cam was set up for success and excelled because of what was around him and his own talent.

Bryce does not have the luxury that Cam did. if Bryce had a similar supporting cast, things would be a lot different around here.

I think most of it revolves around what expectations were. 2011 team although it had some good pieces, it was after the 2-14 Clausen season where the team actually played worse than their record. While they upgraded the offense, the defense was complete dog poo.

This year, the front office tried to sell us on the team being good enough that just dropping a QB in would be enough to make this a playoff team after how well they played down the stretch. Then there is the whole trade up and trading away of assets to get there.

But what people don’t remember is that this board was drenched with people that also complained that Cam just put up stats and doesn’t win games even in his record setting rookie season. As stupid as this sounds now, there were a lot of people spamming the boards and pointing at Andy Dalton making the playoffs his rookie year as evidence that we should have taken a defensive player first and then gotten him later.

It is absolutely not a valid question.

At playing quarterback?? Lol are you serious?

He’s not been playing “good” yet. There’s been some good in most games but there’s a lot more average and below average stuff going on right now. He will get there. He’s just not there right now.

I’m a cam supporter. Just weird seeing all of the mental gymnastics to poo on Bryce and defend cam. The logic ain’t logicing.

I don't think it's even fair to compare the two. Cam was such a rarity for the position when you watched him play you just knew he was going to be special. Even if he was up and down stats wise. The size the physicality the charisma he was a franchise QB pretty much immediately. Now there were people who argued that until they were about to engage in fisticuffs. But anyone with eyes and an unbiased view knew what he was. He has already gone down as arguably the most dominant dual threat QB of the modern era. So many QB's have since or will be drafted have counted him as inspiration.

So yeah all in all any QB drafted first overall would have tough sledding to follow that up. Bryce Young has his work cut out for him. Hopefully we can develop him and not ruin him with these incompetent fools we have surrounded him with.

It looks to me like the safety is 30 plus yards back and breaks in on AT once Young is releasing the ball. They also know our OL won’t be able to hold blocks long enough for a deep play to develop. Plus there was a very high chance the ball was going to AT.

I think it is more like, they know that we don’t believe our OL can protect this QB to where we trust neither.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
