Lol. Didn’t even notice this. It’s really funny when people are dead wrong and this is the best reply you got.

The thing about opinions, is everyone has one.  I don't sit here and beat a drum that you're wrong. I'm too old, and see a lot of football throughout my life to argue about it.  One thing I have learned in life, is the more adamant a person feels, the more narrow his or her perspective becomes.

You think what you want to, it really doesn't matter in the end, just as it doesn't matter what I think, because the team us going to do what they want to do, regardless of how we feel about it.

Tepper has been the problem since he hired Rhule in a lot of minds, it just took others longer to see it. Fitt is either a yes man to him or he is just bad at his job. IDK, all of that PR stuff leading up to the draft sounded like fluff and BS to me. I was only impressed that is was at least well done vs the stuff from years before. Either way, Fitt even having a job when he should have been tossed with Rhule is 100% on Tepper any way you look at it.

You are also forgetting the things that were leaking a few weeks ago. Tepper absolutely has been way more involved then is good for the team and pretty much dashed the PR version to pieces but there are not enough on the record stuff to verify the entire story yet. Either way, the original stuff is now obviously not the entire story and just raises more questions than we have answers yet.

SMH. Tepper has absolutely done the wrong stuff. That doesn’t mean he forced Young on Reich and Fitt.

Pretty typical response. You were wrong and for some reason you can’t let go and walk away. You have to get a last response in and act all high and mighty. If you are going to post that another person is wrong and ask for proof, be Ok when the other party replies with information that invalidates your argument.

I’m too old, but I like to argue and discuss stuff and I’m not the one saying “puff our your chest” and “aw you’re cute” and stuff like that. That’s you not being able to handle an actual discussion where you’re incorrect. Oh well, this will be my last post and I’m sure it won’t be yours.

There was a video of Tepper talking his BS. It was posted here all over the place here. You not knowing about it does not make it not exist.

You mean, this:

https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2023/04/28/2023-nfl-draft-panthers-owner-david-tepper-bryce-young-day-2-picks/

https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/gm-report/tepper-talks-trading-up-to-one-drafting-young-more

Did you read what I posted? I said that Tepper used all the point guard lingo but he did it right before the draft on April 27th. What I also posted was links about Thomas Brown’s interview with Balboni in February. He lays out his QB as a point guard philosophy.

I’m not saying Tepper is a great owner who’s made good decisions. I’m saying that all through February, March and April the coaches and Fitt said a ton about their process and agreeing on Young with no Tepper mentioned at all on the decision or point guard mentality.

Tepper started talking all his BS about point guard mentality and getting FA WRs/TEs with Frank and spending money on Defense (Burns, hence the trade rejection) well after the coaches and Fitt.

Why would Tepper be so mad and meeting with Frank if he made all these decisions by himself? It really amazes me that Tepper paraphrases stuff that Fitt/coaches say/do and people can’t fathom that he was told 1) we don’t need superstar WRs because Young is a point guard so we should include Moore in the trade up and 2) we shouldn’t trade Burns because we need to spend money on D since we don’t need to on offense.

Anyway, I blame Tepper for the FO/coaching hires. He’s the big cheese so he shoulders the blame at the top. I just don’t get trying to make it look like Tepper made every decision to take heat off of Reich and Fitterer.

Maybe I missed it in this thread, but outside of Tepper wasn’t the point guard stuff mentioned well before the draft by Thomas Brown?

Everything I've stated is indeed factual.

You can say whatever you want to.

Discussions are great, but when all you want to do is ignore factual information because it doesn't support your narrative,  then you aren't doing anything to add to the discussion in the first place. Every single one of your posts says, "you're wrong." News flash. That's n9t a discussion.  Instead you'd rather make weak ass attempts of talking about me, Like I give a rats ass what you think of me.

You obviously don't know me. you attempt to paint a picture of me, based upon posts in a forum,  is comical ay best. The irony is you're the one acting high and mighty. I just choose not to argue with somebody whom fails to see any perspective but their own.

Burns is essentially our pass rush. None of the other guys would make the impact they do without Burns.

We couldn't replace burns with what is essentially a 2nd round pick if we wanted to.

So whether you agree with his value to the team or not,  he's most likely going to ve retained and get paid, because our defense simply can't afford to lose him.

At this point, keep him and continue negotiating. Don't over pay him and if doesn't budge, franchise tag him.

He is not at a Bosa level period. If he is pissed off, to fuggin bad. Get your ass out there and give 100% and earn your millons of dollars.

Burns is Currently 5th all time in sacks for the panthers. Everyone above hom has played at least 41 more games than he has. Burns is only 25.

At this point, the last best starting pass rusher we had before burns that was effective was Julius Peppers. Let that sink in.

We acquired Burns with the 16th overall pick in the 2019 draft.  He wasn't ideal DE size, but ideal DE's with elite pass rushing skills have become fewer and farther between.

In terms of positional value, the ONLY position valued more than a starting pass rusher is the QB.

The Rams were willing to trade multiple draft pucks for Burns, because they know exactly how challenging it is to draft a player of his ability with a single draft pick, regardless where it falls in the draft. His value is set, and it doesn't matter how fans view him in the list of elite pass rushers.  He's going to get paid regardless whom pays him.

We couldn't replace him with any single pick that we could get in trade for him.  Our next 1st round pick isn't until 2025.  That would be a long time to wait for a replacement for him, with no guarantee that the player picked would even be as good as Burns.

All of these are facts. They are what sets his value.   Not us fans.

Anyone want to argue those facts,  go right ahead. You'll be doing it with yourself.

So no, we wouldn't be able to improve our team by shipping him off.

At that point we might as well not field a defense at all.

    • Am I reading this right? We've had awful QB play for over half a decade...and we'd pass on Dak because he has no "clutch gene" or can't get it done in the playoffs--something we haven't sniffed and have no reason to believe we will for years to come?!? Sorry, but this sounds like a starving man turning down a box of crackers because they're Great Value instead of Ritz. If a Great Value QB is available when you have none, there is no deliberation needed.
