The Texans Team as a Whole

Before and after the draft the Texans were not predicted to be a competitive team at all. Many assumed they would be heading to another top ten pick to load up and build around Stroud while he learns and inevitably struggles.

That hasn't happened so the goal posts have shifted to they are bursting at the seams with elite talent. When in fact it is both Stroud very good coaching and some talent being maximized by the first two that have them looking the way they are competitively.

I actually logged on here with the intention of bringing some clarity to the Bryce Young situation and the criticism that has been laid at the feet of this kid and this thread eliminated that entirely.

The coping mechanisms here are killing natural discourse as much as anything else. My goodness just stop.

What I’ve seen in the past few weeks here is that folks no longer really have any argument over Stroud v Young and we picked the wrong guy but Young is our guy now for the next three seasons. But because there isn’t any real argument against Stroud being better now, folks looking to argue have gotten to the point where they tell you to go cheer for another team or they make up a fake argument about folks here saying Stroud would be Manning in his prime if he were in Carolina.

When you have a real argument or case against something you don’t need to exaggerate things.

This place is in its like 4th stage of cope. There’s only two stages left:

The stage where Bryce has a game where he balls out and then we go back to stage 1 of “Bryce is the guy!!” , followed by a dud performance to end the season where folks start projecting what day 2 QB we can bring in to compete.

Some of you guys are sad. Creating an argument out of nothing, with an incredible lack of objectivity just to prove points. OP posted an opinion of an unbiased 3rd party and you still refuse to accept the obvious.

Honestly, I haven't seen many/any posts saying Bryce is better than Stroud. Most folk just point out that Stroud has a much better situation than Bryce does with Oline, play calling and receiver play. I've been saying that since the week before Carolina played Houston, when I watched Houston play. Those guys are balling the Freak out in Houston! If you can't at least acknowledge that, then... I'll admit they were able to run that game, and maybe that was an outlier.

Compared to Carolina, they have an offense of pro bowlers. Stroud is balling out too! No doubt. But he makes mistakes too. He misses passes too. He misreads defenses too. But he can throw a 10-15 yards pass that gets taken to the house 75 yards. Carolina has one guy that can do that - Laviska. And before he went on IR, playcallers couldn't figure out how to get him the ball in space.

I think one thing we can all agree on - Houston going from a broken-down sexual predator to CJ Stroud is one of the best upgrades in recent NFL history.

We should also agree that our not getting a broken down sexual predator is one of the best things to happen to us.

I totally hear you.

The best thing I can say to all this is it is a good idea to try and detach the people posting in favor of Bryce to illogical lengths from Bryce himself. I think he can still be a good QB for us at least to salvage this whole thing. I'm trying to be fair to Bryce the person and not hold these takes about him and Stroud against him as a player. It isn't his fault we drafted him to these circumstances and told Shane Steichen to kick rocks. All that being said he is being paid quite significantly and we don't need to baby him. He's going to come out from this whole thing that much tougher and wiser or it will go the other direction. I very much hope it's the former.

So it went from Ryans set up his team to better help his QB to people saying Stroud has an all star cast?  No one thinks Houston has an "All Star cast" on here, but it's hard to argue Houston has done a better job building a more complete team than we have.  I mean the whole NFL has done a better job.  Just like it's hard to argue against Stroud being the better QB right now.  Neither one are particularly close IMO.

Stroud had 3 turnovers last game and they still won against a tough Bengals team.  That's typically a sign of a solid roster.  Stroud is no doubt making them better because he is playing out of his mind, but the point of the article is to also compliment the staff for putting this team together so quickly.  Ours made our roster worse than when Rhule was here...

If Burrow didn’t keep bailing them out they lose. This team would have lost that game. We can’t survive 1 QB turnover let alone 3.
