"well liked and works well with others" reads like "fully willing to be a rubber stamp for David Tepper" to me.

Sad to say I'm starting to get that feeling as well.

The way Dianna Russini talked about Frank Reich's situation made it sound like Tepper and Fitterer were on the same page. She also pointed out (rightly) that defense and special teams haven't been a problem, just offense.

So if Tepper feels okay about the roster in those areas, it would indicate he might not have a problem with his GM or front office.

Tepper- "Listen here Scot, matt rhule is the boss, do as he says."

Fitt- "ok...i mean yes'

Tepper- "Fired Matt Rhule, Im the CEO boss now. I demand trading to the #1 and after din-din we are drafting Byce Young"

Fitt- "yes"

I nearly think it's a lock that fitt is just teppers #1 yes man.

Only way you could keep this guy around....any of the 31 teams in the league woulda jettison his azz two years in maybe sooner.. Its like Fitt had aspirations of being a brain surgeon but ended up a stir cook...

To be clear, there's another side to the "works well with others" discussion.

Why did we draft Matt Corral? Reportedly it was because Ben McAdoo wanted him.

Why did we draft DJ Johnson? Word on that was that he was favored by DC Ejiro Evero.

Why did we sign Miles Sanders? Story there was that Deuce Staley and Frank Reich advocated for him.

Why did we draft Jonathan Mingo? Pre-draft we were told that a certain receiver had so impressed the coaching staff that they were certain to draft him if they had the chance.

Why did we draft Bryce Young? Well, that topic's been discussed plenty already.

There's a pattern here, though.

Former Titans GM Floyd Reese hated having coaches involved in scouting because, per his words, coaches had a tendency to fall in love with a particular player over highlights rather than looking at the whole picture.

Obviously, it's the GM's job to get the kind of players his coaches want, but how much he should listen on particular players is a matter of debate.

It's one of those things that's been in the back of my mind for a while now. Tepper is obviously the bigger concern, but these stories also make me wonder.

I am convinced that Scott Fitterer will be here for another year. Tepper is a joke and so wildly incompetent that he would fire the head coach and not one of the worst GMs in recent history. Absolute clown show. I would do anything to make Tepper sell the team.

    • I mean, I think you're being a little hyperbolic with the last statement, but point taken.
    • Pass rush was the biggest issue in tonight’s game, and we were tied for 28th in sacks this season. That is a major area of need that has to get addressed this offseason. I just don’t see a path where there’s a game changing QB you can bring in with where we are drafting and quality of veterans that will be available. We certainly can do better than Dalton as a backup, and should ideally have a developmental guy  (perhaps a day 3 pick this year). We have bryce for one more year on a reasonable contract and then I think 2027 is the year that you reset that position (unless he massively improves).
    • Agreed, honestly basically bringing this group back as a healthy unit would be alright.  Brady Christensen should be resigned to a very reasonable deal with him recovering from the Achilles.  Atleast we're alright at 4 of our 5 spots with Lewis, Mays, Hunt, and Moton, Nijman was decent.  While if we can snag a deal on someone, take a stab, however our resources need to go to Linebacker, Pass Rush and a real option outside Tmac (coker is amazing, but if we can get someone who isnt braindead opposite Tmac, we can fully unleash Coker AND Tmacs full potential, cant move him into the slot if racoon boy is out there licking doorknobs).
