Trading up wasn’t bad. You just can’t miss on that pick. Stroud or AR should have been the pick

Ugh, to think that of the three options we picked the worse one... Hell, the worst QB in the entire class so far...

With AR, we are probably still drafting #1 just because of his injury. But man, he looked so dynamic when he was playing.  So much to look forward to.

Stroud probably has this team in the playoff hunt until the last couple weeks of the season (because our division sucks) and we still probably have Reich as a coach lol. I think our offensive weapons aren't good, but aren't nearly as bad as people say, which is why when BY was "on" for a couple quarters, they looked pretty good.  Decent QB play elevates everyone...

I would AR is leaning bust too. He was even more averse to throwing downfield than Bryce when he was knocked out for good.

Then you factor in how injury prone he was when he plays like Cam/Allen.

So, not that it matters, but we only had a 1/3 shot(most likely) of success.

I dunno man, AR has 3 2+ TD games ... in only 4 games. For a rookie.

While you're right about being somewhat adverse throwing downfield, for him, it isn't an arm strength issue, at least.  And he's only 21...

I would def be worried about injuries tho.

Just thinking back to all the crap some of us took for saying hold at 9  or trade back.

The mantra was "we have to do something now." Well there ya go,enjoy watching our QB getting drafted this draft.

The 'just be happy our owner made a move' people were not any better. It was a crap trade then and now, lots just couldn't see it. Or the people that said the trade value was OK at the time. LOL!

I liked AR but he shouldn't have been in that convo because he is was a high ceiling project, not at 1 and not at that cost of getting to 1. If Stroud wasn't it then don't make the trade at all. Bryce's school film was enough to pass before the trade. The trade was awful and got worse with who they picked and how their picks went up in value after doing the trade and draft. A good WR gone, only one on the roster, when brining in a QB? That is enough to bust the trade itself.

AR was always my preference but at 9 and only with the right HC, mainly because we were never just a QB away from being a legit contender. AR wouldn't have fit with FR and definitely not with Brown as OC.

Yeah but Gardner Minshew also looked great for them. That is a far better coached offense ans far more talented offense.

Like I said, I am not buying the AR hype. Could end up being wrong but we will see.

Biggest concern with AR for me was always his playing like Cam shortening his career. He's raw, no doubt and that's why I would have been fine at 9, but not at 1.

Minshew should have been the starter at the beginning anyways. AR was a project that needed to learn how to transition his game away from trying to be a power runner QB.

He isn't a bust yet but if he can't learn to throw more and run less he will because he is injury prone, especially in the way he played in school.

thats what bothers me...coaches should be able to coach the best players.

Now that I agree with. I wouldn't be pumped about AR at #9 but better than giving up the haul we did.

Agreed on playing like Cam/Allen. Except straight out of the gate he is getting injuries to his shoulder and also a concussion. That is a massive red flag if he plans on playing that style. And, to be clear, this isn’t Lamar Jackson. He can't just sit back there and be a pocket passer because he has waaaaaaay more work and development necessary to become that kind of QB.

We're going to be a run first team with 3 receiving options better than any of the other players on past rookie 1k seasons. If you can't understand that, then it's a you problem, not a me problem. Arizona's previous basketball coach, Sean Miller, used to do something at the first team meeting of every season and I think it's soooooooooo applicable to this situation. He'd have every player right down how many minutes/points they expected to average that season and then he'd add them up.  It would show that if they all hit those numbers, we'd score like 125 points a game and need to be playing 7 guys at a time to get their minutes. That's pretty much how you guys are putting your T-Mac expectations out there, looking solely at the player and what you think he should be able to do, not how the offense will operate as a whole. Every yard one player gets is one less yard someone else can get.  It sounds like I just have more faith in Thielen, XL, and Coker this year than most everyone else.  But a big reason for that faith is because of T-Mac and how much he'll open things up for the rest of them and Bryce being the type of QB to take the open easy passes than force it to his #1. As I've said, if any one of the following happens... Thielen ends the season sub 700 yards, XL or Coker end up sub 500 yards... Then yes, I will then shift my expectations for T-Mac's rookie year to be at least 1,000 yard season. But since I have faith in those other 3 having solid seasons, it tempers my expectations yardage totals for T-Mac this year, and this year alone.  I've also clearly stated many times that I think he's going to reach 10 TDs. If T-Mac ends the season with 800 yards and 10 TDs, while Thielen gets 900-1,000 and XL/Coker each get around 600, I don't see any world where that is a failure for a rookie season for T-Mac. Because again, we're talking about expectations, not what is possible.  So given the other WR options, I can't EXPECT T-Mac to get to the 1k mark, which is a far cry from me saying I don't think he can get there. Do you really not see the difference there?
    • I don't recall anyone seeing this coming.  I mean, two seperate things for me.  I thought BB just might not work in college football because he is old grumpy man and college is about appealing to young kids.   So yeah, that could of gone great or horrible.  Coin flip.  This isn't that convo for me.  what we are witnessing right now play out.....this was never part of the disaster possibility/path discussed lol.  Really weird stuff.  Or maybe I missed the part where UNC hires a 20 year old "girlfriend" that apparently runs the Bill operation and before the season even starts is taking over more than just Bill but influence of the entire UNC operation.  That was her getting that official statement made today.  It was her sabotaging the Hard Knocks UNC show because she somehow wasn't the star.  Seems like elder abuse lol.  Only largely kidding.  You even got Charles Barkley saying he normally doesn't talk about personal lives of his friends but he might have to check in on Bill because this ain't normal stuff lol.  Anyway, it's entertaining.  Everything is a cartoon it seems these days.
    • I think its strange how you were claiming this guy was the second coming of Mike Evans and you can't even get behind 1k yards? I guess I have more faith in him than you
