I should have worded that better. I meant build an offense that could take advantage of his strengths that were shown in college. Other than anticipation and being able to take a hit, he really hasn't shown much in the NFL to build off of.

Gotcha. Yeah that what I have been trying to say. At the NFL level he really doesn't bring enough to the table. Either way 2024 is his shot and I really do hope they bring in better talent evaluators and team builders because this team is currently a hodgepodge mess.

What are his strengths from college though?

He had an awful deep passing completion % at Alabama that has translated to the next level regardless of all other circumstances.

He needs to have a phenomenal offseason. First order of business is ditching the weight watchers diet and living in the gym. Next order of business is he needs to be connected at the hip with his receivers to develop as much rapport and continuity as possible. While all this is happening we need to be leaving no stone unturned in rebuilding this OL and bringing in more weapons for him. I sincerely hope all this happens. The alternative is bleak as hell. We'll see.

we have been asking what his strengths are, hell what nfl attributes he has since about week 4ish.  Crickets from the peanut gallery.  The best answer we got is he throws with anticipation, but to me just about all starting qbs do this at some point or another in games

Let's be blunt here: We are stuck with the kid for the foreseeable future.

Was he awful the majority of the time during the season? Yes

Was that completely his fault? No, due to inept coaching and no real firepower around him.

All we can do is hope he improves mightily during the off-season, or 2024 will be just as bad and I may have to get a new liver.

Football is a team game.  If the entire cast around a player is not good the player will not be good.  I don’t care who you are especially in the top league in the world in that sport.  Especially if he is ROOKIE.   

Not to mention a disjoined staff and leadership around him.

So you want an offensive line that can hold off the defense for 10 seconds, and if that's not enough time, you want opposing teams' defenders to be dog slow that Bryce has an easy time to evade them and dance in the backfield in order to find a receiver who will get 5 to 10 yards of separation on a regular basis?

Basically you're asking us to become the Alabama of the NFL, with us having a far, far, far more talented roster than the rest of the league. Sorry to break it to you, that's never gonna happen. Bryce probably can't even outrun most NFL defensive tackles, so his Steph Curry style will never translate in the NFL. If he can't pass the ball from the pocket, he has no place in the NFL.

I couldn’t finish it, really. So he got mad. Do something about it. I believe you get respect if you pull your weight in the job we share.

The reality is when BY9 shows he can do the job better than he has so far, maybe someone will listen to him tell them about what they need to do. Before that? It’s just talk. 

As far as radio personality's 'oh boy Bryce Young is mad, look out now’ schtick, was Young pissed that the Bears dropped an int on the third down immediately before the long FG attempt? Or that he was incomplete on 1st and 2nd down? Who was he mad at? I hope himself. 

I mean, they apparently were 3 yards away from Piniero’s personal best yard line, and three plays left them in the same place. 3 plays and you guys can’t get a yard? What kind of faith do you want at that point? More than I’d have. 

At the time I bet the OL or WRs were blamed but it was 0-3 with the game on the line. 

I remember now they blamed Reich. edit: also, at the time, those 3 plays were called by Brown and after the game Reich took the play calling back. FWIW. I think three incompletions from there is pretty bad.

      Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.

      Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
